Question about 85mm MAF?

Default Question about 85mm MAF?

When I put the Moser 12 bolt w/4.10's in I lost about 20 hp and tq. I am going to put 30# injectors in. I was wondering if going to a 85mm MAF would bring back some of the power that I lost. Mods are in sig.

The car can only inhale as much air as the TB will let it, if you anly have a 70mm Throttle body (I think that is what stock is) and your stock Maf is around the same size, and bigger maf wouldnt let in any more air because the TB is your bottleneck

That makes since. So my next question is would changing to a larger MAF, and a larger tb be to much for my stock displacement H/C?

No, guys with the 90mm LSX intake and 90mm tb are gaining 20-25 hp at the head/cam level (stock displacment).

It's expensive, but it will make power with your mods.

What's a ballpark HP figure when going with an Z06 MAF for F-body, with say a Bauer or Jantzer Ported TB to 85mm, into a stock LS6 intake?

Untuned you will screw your mixture with a stock
Z06 or truck MAF, rich; screw it lean with a GMAF.
Two wrongs don't make a right, generally speaking,
but that doesn't stop people from trying.

It's also quite untrue that you gain nothing from
an 85mm MAF and a 70mm TB. Air is a compressible
fluid, not like you're trying to cram an 80mm marble
down it and it'll get stuck or something.

But, whether you'd gain enough to be worth the grief
is another matter. You will need to either solder-tune
a Z06 (or truck) unit, or righteous-tune the tables in
the PCM. Only the latter will have a chance of getting
you right across-the-board, though the former may
get you "good enough" - but even there you'd need at
least scanning capability.

I can get it computer tuned any time and if I got one I would get one that is made for a LS1. Thanks.

I'm asking because I was gonna get a Pace Z06, claims its calibrated for F-body. Is that one ok? Or should I just stick with stock?
