Default Who makes an engine torque strap?

Thinking I need to install a driver side poly engine mount but was wondering if someone has devised an engine torque "strap". I've seen nice billet straps with rod ends on other cars, so I was just wondering about this. I'm sure I could have one fabbed, but would rather find one made.

I went to Lowes and bought a ratchet strap that looks like this.

I then looped it like everyone else did around the alt bracket and secured it to the k-member. I've had it on for at least a year and it's worked fine at keeping the y-pipe from banging.

How cool would it look to have a billet engine brace going from the passenger front of cylinder head to strut/shock tower? Wonder if anyone makes anything like that? For now, if it's good enough for Wilwaxu, it's good enough for me, even though someone on our local board called it ghetto. I don't mind being that it's far from a show car.

You risk false knock retard if you mount anything solid between the motor and the chassis. That's why the strap works well.

Just went to super Walmart and got a pair. $13.87 1500lb rating, 500 work capacity I believe. Time to jack up the Z.

You could always use Spohn soild motor mounts but then you need to disable the knock sensors.

I have mine solid mounted and no knock retard. The mounting points are isolated with firm rubber. I use an aluminum adjustable turn buckle mounted at the head and it runs down to a bracket I fabbed up on the frame. It's worked like a champ.

Could somebody explain the purpose of this mod on the car? Does it give you more torque or takeoff for launch. Your assistance in explanation would be appreciated.........

Theory is that you loose hp in the movement of the motor. limiting it's movement helps re-capture some of that.

Funny, just a couple days ago I started thinking of a torque strap. I am still getting some y-pipe banging, even with a custom y. I was just not looking forward toward the labor involved in a poly motor mount. I may have to make the trip to Home Depot myself.
