Default Installing a Borla XR-1 on Loudmouth

So I attempted to install a borla xr-1 bullet muffler on my lm1 because it sounds like crap and i need someone a little toned down, heard that it will tone it down a bit.

While trying to install it though, the muffler goes over the mid pipe but the other end doesn't fit the over the axle pipe because its the same size for some reason. can someone tell me the reason it's like that because i see on other threads on here with it being installed just fine, so I don't know why mine wont go on correctly. but also when I had it on only on the one side it was rubbing on the driveshaft.

what Y pipe do you have? obviously your y pipe is less than 3" and your I pipe is 3" exactly. you need to weld OR use reducers. maybe move it forward a bit? i mean put it in the middle of the I pipe?

I have a kooks y-pipe, but for the loudmouth it has a small pipe that come's off the y-pipe that would then connect to the resonator, but that same pipe fits fine on the borla. But the other end of the borla xr1 is 3" but doesn't fit the pipe that goes over the axle because it seems the same size, which like I said I don't understand, because on other threads of people doing this they fit just fine.

I had the same problem with mine when installing it. The over the axle pipe is 3 in I.D. and so is the XR1 muffler. So I pulled of the over the axle pipe and heated it with a torch and belled it out to 3 in O.D. I'm not sure why everyone said it was a direct fit either, mine required some cutting of the pipe and the y-pipe to get everything to fit right. But anyway, your options are either get a pipe made that's 3 in. O.D. or expand yours. Good luck.

Actually is pretty common with to need either the muffler inlet/outlet or connecting exhaust pipe expanded, especially when using a universal fit muffler.

how would i go upon expanding the over the axle pipe to fit around the outlet of the muffler? Just to note everything from after the muffler to the back it welded on so i cant just take off the one pipe.

Then you'll have to have the expand the muffler outlet.

how would that work? since the over the axle has that expansion for it to slip over the muffler.

If the over axle pipe is expanded and so is the muffler then take the muffler to a muffler shop and have them shrink it back to standard 3". They should have a die to do that.
