Dual Pass Radiator Question

Default Dual Pass Radiator Question

I have a be cool dual pass radiator and have a question for you guys. The inlet and outlet are on the same side and the radiator gets extremely hot on that side but stays nice and cool on the other side. Does the radiator sound like it's flowing correctly? I can't seem to keep temps down.

I've got a cheap Jeg's (Chicom) dual-pass and no issues.

Thanks. Anyone else have any opinions on whether mine is functioning correctly or not? To me it doesn't seem like the fluid is actually traveling through the entire radiator. Seems like it's going in and then right back out

The problem could be a stubborn air pocket in the cooling system somewhere. There is a great writeup on how to bleed out the air after a rad flush or hose change. Do a search on the Site, I used his method it worked nicely. Oh yeah, I had LOTS of air to get out that was just sitting in there after a rad flush. LS6427 might be the guy...

If the baffle is improperly welded or has a hole, that will happen:

Thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty sure the radiator isn't functioning properly so it's time to start looking for a replacement.

I bought the AFCO dual pass and it works great. Can't tell you from my car but my buddies LS2 powered 240sx has one with some crappy electric fan and it never overheats even after a drifting event. Because his has proven to be more than capable for drifting abuse I am sure it would work well for my car which will mostly be a daily drive. Car with occasional 1/4 track events. Plus it's more than half the cost of Griffin of the same dimensions.

How long has the engine been running? Is this a problem with a new installation?

I can get you my part number but it was spec'ed to fit into a 240sx nicely not the typical LSx swapped chassis. I should be able to get you the info later tonight. Just pm me if forget for some reason.
