Default Longtubes installed, now catback decisions

I have been running my car with no cats and the 80 series Flowmaster muffler welded in place of the stock one for almost a year. Last night I installed Flowtech headers and ORY and now the car is a little quieter than it was before. I was planning on ditching the flowmaster for a Hooker catback but I don't want the exhaust note to be any quieter than it is now. I want a good sounding and flowing exhaust. Has anyone went from the flowmaster to a hooker with longtubes and no cats or from the flowmaster to any other catbacks. Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Flowmaster = junk IMO. There are way too many other mufflers out with with better flowing designs. The Hooker LTs, ORY, and Hooker CB setup will sound MEAN. The Hooker muffler will flow better than the flowmaster 80, and will sound much louder as well. It will have a different, and far better tone IMO.

GO for it, I've been thinking about switching to and ORY with possibly a GMMG though. For the sole reason that it sounds by far the coolest. But until I have an extra 700 bucks, I'll keep my 280 dollar Hooker CB over any other setup out there.

If you can afford it, I say go for the GMMG. Right now my mind is on other things so the extra 400 bucks can be better spent somewhere else. If you can't swing it, I say without a doubt, go for the Hooker system.

I would have to vote the X-Pipe setup with dump offs at the axle with 1 Chamber flows , By far the best exhaust I have ever heard on a LS1.

I have heard the hooker CB on an LS1. It sounded really good. Magnaflow is another good one. I'm going to switch to a Magnaflow myself pretty soon.

Wow, your car actually got quieter with longtubes? Never heard of that before.

Yeah, I was expecting it to be a little louder, but it wasn't. It is a bit quieter at idle but smoother, it still sounds awesome at WOT, but it is quieter at highway cruising also. Now you have to remember that I was already running without cats so it was already louder than just a diff catback or muffler.

I was thinking of gettin a pair of coated flowtech headers w/ an ORY. How do they look? How are the welds? How are the flanges? Is the coating good? And do they sound mean? (better then cast iron manifolds)

At first they got a lot of hype because of their similarity to Hooker/Jet Hot, but I have been hearing negative things now. Do a search, someone started a post about them rusting real soon after install.
