Default aftermarket starter

Well I'm pretty sure my starter is going out and ill be doing my heads and cam swap soon so it will be perfect timing. I called the dealership and they want 450 bux for the gm starter, but I found a powermaster starter for $180. Is anyone running an aftermarket starter with long tube headers installed? I wanna make sure I won't have clearance issues.

The factory starter (or the one O'Reilys, Autozone, Pep-Boys, Advanced or eBay sells) will be just fine with your setup. No need to spend the extra cash if you dont have to.

I run 1 7/8 LTs with an MSD starter. No issues at all. I have a stroked motor with dome pistons so I am about 12.5-13 to 1 CR. I needed a high torque starter and the MSD is doing the job!

Well I think I'm gonna go with the msd. My compression will be at 11-1 but I know that's barely higher than an ls6. The stealership wants too much for the gm replacement

Great choice! I love mine, turns way faster than the stock one did on a stock motor. its fully adjustable with two (2) different adjustment points.

Plus it's red and matched my powder coated red oil pan and red car! WIN -WIN!!

I had the msd one on my car and it was a great piec e just a fair warning though if you have ARH headers or plan t get some the msd wont clear. I had to give mine up when i switched to arhs and just got a stock one from rock auto

It should be a direct OE replacement fit.

I bought a Summit starter blanket to wrap mine in to protect it from header heat and hopefully extend its life.
