if you can read and follow the how to instructions you can do it. factor a couple hours first time. take care not to break the oil pressure sending unit.

nope, after the intake is off remove the little plastic cups over the knock sensors and pry them up carefully.

I just did mine, took me 7 hours but I was being very careful with everything. Not hard, just a pain to reach stuff with the EGR plumbing in the back.

I did it 2 weeks ago, took us 4.5 hrs and we were slacking off, not really caring when it was done I'm sure you can do it in 6hours reading jmX's instructions.
If we really tried, we could have been done in 3hrs or less. (air tools rule)

I removed mine a couple of weekends ago, its not hard - just take your time and be patient. Like stated above, be careful of the damn oil pressure sending unit - you dont want to break that ($50 to replace the sender).

What most ppl do when they get the bolts off the intake is they immediately want to pull forward without routing the brake booster hose away from the sender unit (it wraps around it. Disconnect the brake booster hose and just move the intake a couple of inches forward, reach back their and disconnect the various connections (see link below) - then you can lift and pull the intake forward.

As for the knock sensors, be careful in removing the clips from the actual sensor. You dont pry on them to disconnect - you have to pinch the sides and pull up (dont force it, if you have to force it then its still clipped). Pay attention to torque ratings, the knock sensors only require 11ft lbs - hand tighten then torque.

Here is a good write up - www.ls1howto.com.

Good luck and post back if you run into difficulty.

You will need a clip to disconnect the fuel lines. It is very easy to do. I can swap intakes in a little over an hour. Just take your time disconnecting the vacuum line and electrical plug on the back. I think disconnecting all the fuel injector wires and sensors takes most of the time. Just stick to the wrote up and it should go smooth. Just hand tighten the bolts on reinstall. They don't need to be that tight. Make a couple passes since it will reseat and bolts will loosen.

Yes - almost forgot about that, you'll need a 3/8" fuel disconnect tool.
