Default Pacesetters suck

So far Im not happy with my pace setters. They bang **** moan and vibrate. But its not the normal y pipe banging complaint. My headers is bangin the hell out of the k member. I have tried prying and bending and creative "clearencing" to no avail. Im about to tear it all off and go back to stock, its that bad. Any body else had this problem. what did you do?

First I have to say.. "Calm down.. it'll be alright."

Now, the solution to your problem is not prying at the headers. All you have to do is notch the k-member on the drivers side, and it will cure the banging and vibrating that you're experiencing. I didn't even have to remove the header to notch the K-member. Take care of this and I'm sure that you'll be happy..

"I Love Mine" the cheapest HP I've gotten yet...

Pacesetter Headers are pretty quality headers for the price that you pay.

I clearanced about a 1/4" v-shape out of the k-memeber with a saws-all. I did this before the headers went in, so I don't know if you will have enough room for this after the fact. Even with the clearancing and having the ORY reworked, I am still having a slight amount of banging. My next step is to do a torque strap or poly motor mount to limit movement.

Good luck... it can be frustrating

An old guy I work with that was into cars a long time ago once told me about taking a sledge hammer to the inner fenders of his '70 Hemi Cuda drag car. I bet the guy that restored that car 20 years later wanted to skin him.

That being said, poly motor mounts and trans mount is the fix for most banging.

A friend of mine who owns a muffler shop used a torch on the K-frame and it worked perfectly.

But truth be told, these headers do suck. My y-pipe bangs the floor board at 1/4 throttle.

Why does the y-pipe banging make the headers suck? The y-pipe may suck, but the headers are pretty nice considering what you pay for them.

And my y-pipe hasn't caused me any grief...

Because to save money, most of us install them on our own. If done by a muff shop, it less a pain and it is done right (room & tools to modify).

Restorers are lame anyway

I bet the guy who installed the headers on that 'Cuda had lots of fun with it!

Because that's my opinion of the pacesetters that are on my car. The Y-pipe is part of the Pacesetter system and it bangs the floor board. And that sucks.

Well I finialy fixed the pace setter bang. Poly mounts didnt fix it only made it worse .
what did fix it was 3 1/2 washers in between each bolt for the trans x member.
lowered the headers and y far enough that they didnt bang any more finnaly I can in peache

I dont like any of pacesetters products...IMO If Pacesetter makes headers for a certain Camaro/Firebird, they should directly bolt on, you shouldnt have to grind anything... Just my 2 cents

As someone said previously, Pacesetter re-designed the headers and they fit very nicely. I bought some and just finished installing them today. They fit great and stay away from the K-Member.
