Default Bullit mufflers and long tubes?

Was wondering if anybody runs dual bullet mufflers straight off the headers. Was thinking of just running some long tubes then straight into dual dynomax or flowmaster bullits without a Y or H or X pipe. Just seeing what people think and if anybody has done it and have some input on power and sound?

So it would go 1 7/8 long tube headers - 3 inch collectors - section of straight 3" pipe 2-3' long - dual 16"+ bullits - turn turn downs

So basically 2 bullit style mufflers right off the headers, then a ORY with a cat back with no muffler?

I plan on doing that strictly because of weight. My car is slowly turning more and more into a project/strip car. If you do a lot of street driving I'm a big fan of the Y pipe with an electric cutout. The car will be much to loud for the street with that setup, but that's just me.

Just thinking, wouldn't the mufflers have problems being that close to the engine? There's a reason they're towards the back of the car

yes it's doable.

You ll be basically running open headers with some tone to it depending on mufflers chosen.

Look into sweet thunder or classic chambered powers sticks.

Keep in mind that the turn downs at most reach front seats.
It will rattle Everything.

You will experience a lot of interior drone with that set up. If you choose to go that route your car will be loud...so if it truly will be a "track car" and not daily driven you could definitely run that set up.

It being an RX7 is no excuse to not take it out the back though. I've owned an FD3S before.

Just get some sidepipes like the old Vettes and Vipers. Ha, that'd be sweet.

The X or H would help with bank-to-bank scavenging in the mid-RPM range. But for what you're trying to do, it won't matter. I'd look at the Sweet Thunders as well.

Trying to save some weight and not run it out the back. trying to get it before the rear tires.

Lots of people do it. It will be loud, but not near as loud as open headers.

Open headers aren't even that loud... once you get used to it. Just sounds amazing.
