Default Exhaust dilemma

Ok, so I've started the build on my car as the winter has been going by and one of the things I've been wanting to do is something with the exhaust. Right now the car has 1 3/4 pacesetter headers with a catless X pipe and Tsp true duals dumped at the axle. I honestly hate this exhaust. I leave my house at 5:15 in the morning and it's way too loud. I don't daily drive it but I will put some miles on it this summer. I know that true duals will make the most power. My build is gonna consist of:
Fast 92 or 102 intake
Tea stage 1 243 heads
Custom cam from either Tick or Flowtech inductions with supporting valve train parts
1 7/8 ths long tubes
I was thinking of a single 3 inch magnaflow system but was wondering how bad a single 3 inch would hurt power? How about the hawks third gen single 4 inch mufflex system with the magnaflow muffler? Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

You could just put an actual muffler/mufflers on it.

I thought about that but wasn't sure if it would be quiet enough still being dumped.

Mufflex catback flows VERY well. I would recommend it or run a 3" with a cutout

I'm looking for low 11's out of it. It's not really gonna be a daily driver but if I want to take it to work or come home late at night I don't want to **** my neighbors off any more than I have.

I'd call Brett Land that owns landspeed and have him spec you a cam and a set of heads. Or if you want a proven setup run Prc stage 2.5 5.3 heads, torquer v2, fast 92/92 and its solid 11's all day

IMO and using my experience with a Y pipe setup (currently having one) the rasp you get is just not worth it. If you are going to spend all that money on a Y pipe setup, why not just spend the cash to extend the true duals over the axle? I want to do true duals on my car really bad, but don't feel like spending the coin to do it. Keep your true duals man, if you don't like the mufflers on your system, look into sweet thunders or powersticks. I would love to have a X pipe on my car right now.

Exactly.

Especially in a cammed car, the y pipe makes it sound raspy. It bothers me a lot. I'm about to make the switch to tsp true duals.

But if you insist I'll be selling my magnaflow catback/ electric cutout, kooks 3in y pipe soon.

Dumped only really changes the percieved noise in the car, outside dumped vs out the back is not a lot different. I would try different mufflers before you choke it with a Y-pipe setup. Pitch is important as well. Duals tend to be deeper than Y-pipes which are less obtrusive. I have come home late on numerous occasion. keep the rpms down, and it really isn't to bad. As for early mornings, it can be any worse than the ******** that cuts his grass at 8 AM on a Sunday, or the kids that like to play basketball in the driveway outsid emy bedroom at the same hour.

Thanks for the replies fella's. Maybe I will just replace the mufflers then and spend the extra money elsewhere. Any suggestions as far as mufflers? The car is stock height and will be if that matters.

That looks like a sweet set up. The only problem is no one around hear can mandrel bend pipes or work with 4-inch for that matter. I called around when I had my 6.2 silverado which is 3.5 from the factory and no one could do what I wanted with it so if I elect to go with 4-inch it will have to be a pre bent kit like the hawks one.

I don't know if there is such thing as a "quiet" cammed car, unless its a small cam. But with all the work you plan on doing it doesn't sound like you're going with a small cam. So I wouldn't think going to back to a y pipe will solve anything. Get some Magnaflow high flow cats and a muffler known to lower the volume of the exhaust but won't ruin the sound(not tryna be on Magnaflow's ******* but I've heard they get that job done). I run Sweet Thunder bullets and I love them but they get pretty loud above 2400 rpm so I wouldn't recommend that for you.

I faced the same issue. Went with Magnaflow 11229's and they quieted it down a good amount. LT's, No cats, X-pipe. Mine is also dumped just past the axles, I have turn downs that extend out 1ft after the muffler to help push the sound away from the car and cut down on 90% of the interior rattle these dumped setups create. It still screams at WOT but you lose that sorta loud deep rumble at idle which I miss. Overall, it works pretty well though.
