Cant wait to install these bad boys! TSP 1 7/8!

The fit & finish of the headers & ory is excellent all the pipes slide together perfect pretty good band clamps too. Only drawback is the ory pipes should be slotted down the side an inch or so at the joints. That way it would come apart real easy later on. That's what I liked about the BBKs that are still on the car, y pipe is real easy to work with.

Finally got freed up enough to get the car in the shop & get this badass set of headers on the car. First some pics of the old BBK headers. Still in great shape after 6 years, some surface rust of course.
Ok, the BBKs come apart very easy, prolly had them removed in about 45 minutes, didn't have to remove the plugs or coils.

Now the new shiny stuff!
3 inch ORY pipe
OK so these took a lil massaging to get in, R.side had to remove the front 3 plugs & it fell right in
The L. side, not as easy. Removed all plugs, oil filter & had to grind about 1/2 inch off the K member. Not too bad though
Pretty decent clearance though, tuck under the car nice!
As expected, a lil harder to get to the spark plugs
Small problem: Catback I-pipe had to be trimmed about 1.5 inch, tried & tried with a tailpipe cutter 304 stainless is no joke lol! So had to call it a night until I got my hands on a sawzall with an awesome blade. This alone was making me second guess doing the install(mind you I had a similar problem during the BBK install had to have a pipe fabbed at the local muffler shop to fit in the GMMG catback
So got a sawzall & got the pipe cut but had to separate the I-pipe from the mufflers, I-pipe has to connect to ORY then back into the muffler pipe. A lil work & heat but I got it all together this morning. Everything fit pretty good too!
I did cut (2) 1 inch reliefs in all the ORY joints with a cutoff wheel.
Cleaned up the GMMG a lil, it needed it!

Ok so how does it sound? I think everyones opinion would be along the lines of fuggin really loud or SLP LM1 loud lol! But IMHO, it is a lil louder but not really much! The sound quality didn't diminish that's for sure, it still sounds great & actually a lil better! I could feel the car pull much harder especially above 60. Some sound clips:
Initial startup & 2k rev: all of the band clamps did leak a lil so went over all after
Driving home getting on it a lil, had some traffic so
Idling, 20 ft from my camera phone. some 4-5k revs

So I take it you have stock manifolds? I guess if the potential extra noise an ORY makes bothers ya or if you live in a state that does emission testing but since I don't have to I'm not! A catted Y almost triples the price of the Y pipe, is a restriction & something that could fail & cause a major restriction, running problem.

Here's what I did with my TSP 1 7/8" as well as modding my LM1 to actually make it sound GOOD

Dr whigham, I did try to look at your pics of the extra muffler you added to quiet the LM1 but I couldn't see the pics. I'm not adding a thing to mine, sounds perfect! It does have some of the machine gun sound that varies depending on how much throttle is used but that's what its supposed to sound like! Not harsh at all, sounds very clean. Now that could change when I go with a bigger cam I have driven a LM1 car with headers & stock cam(don't recall if it had cats) & it was very loud.
Like ya said, I have poly mounts & not the same issues you had with trimming the floor. I didn't have to remove the starter, steering shaft, jack the motor up to get them in( although when I was trying the L.side I really thought jacking the motor up was gonna be necessary until I trimmed the K member a tad) like I see some others did! I LOLed at lemons12s comment about rather having coated headers over these TSPs cuz they MIGHT fit better

My first mod was the 1 3/4 LTs I had on there. With the cam & heads I figured it was time to upgrade & that my setup would benefit. After driving it some more today I'm really glad I did cuz it feels like I picked up another 20 hp. I'm gonna have to get it dynoed soon.

No I don't have emissions where I live I live in Iowa so I should go with 1/34 and ory instead of catted y and don't go with 1/78 but letter in the future I might cam it with heads and I know I'm going with yank ss 3600 stall
