anyone else ever get embarrassed by... an extremely loud exhaust? 
I really like the sound of my newly installed cutout but damn that thing gets loud fast once I'm up around 2k. I'm hoping it just sounds a lot louder in the car.
It's a bit embarrassing when I'm on the freeway and I need to accelerate to pass someone, merge, etc.
I down shift one gear usually jumping from around 1500-1700 rpm up to 2500 rpm and now my car is really loud but I'm not really taking off like a bat out of hell like it would if I downshifted a couple of gears and got up around 3500-4000 rpm.
So here I come exhaust blaring away but my engine is only turning 2.5k rpm and I'm just slowling passing (maybe 5-10 mph faster). The uninformed masses think I'm trying really hard to pass them and I look like a ******* toolbag because I'm barely pulling on them
Of course I could just drop the hammer but damn, that's really loud and I'll draw too much attention I think.
I don't want to drop 150 bones on an electric valve. Geez...

Yep I know the feeling, try having a 3800 Vig TC(auto) MAC'S w/ORP LM exhaust, and a pretty heathly cam and 3.73's. The damn thing sounds like a drag car now. The car sounds like its trying to go mach 2 but is only going 25mph when pulling away from a light

people can hear you. they move out of the way cause they think your going fast. its bad ***. i love to hear the echo off buildings and underpasses. cant beat it. no embarrassment what so ever here.

I have not even got my car yet. But I can't wait to have that sound.
I would'nt be embarassed at all. The ricers arent embarassed when their cars soud like motorcycles. Any one in here have true duals. If so around how much should you pay for them?

My total cost was about $500 but thats because I was able to do the welding/build it myself and only needed parts. I used:
Dr Gas X-pipe kit = $195 ($$ but NICE!!!!!)
2 bullet mufflers = ~$70 a pair
2 tips = ~$100 a pair
some pipe and u-bends = ~$100 total
The average around here (have some friends that have had it done for them) is usually between $600-$700. Most of the cost is parts as there isn't much labor in building one of these setups (if you buy the above things).

Take that one step further. I was at a car show one time and I'm sure we have all had the problem of stupid people that walk down the row and won't get out of the way of cars that are trying to get in/out because a) they are too stupid and/or b) they are ********. Well I had some lady that WOULD NOT get out of the way so I reved high and loud. Not only did she get out of the way but she was in the middle of drinking her soda and dumped the ENTIRE thing on herself. I couldn't move I was laughing so hard!

Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of my car. It's just kind of overkill when I just want to pass someone or speed up a little bit and It sounds like I'm flooring it in high rpms.
I mainly don't like it when I'm on a road that merges up ahead and someone in their van or suv tries to beat me to the merge. It's like WTF man, I could smoke your *** silly. So I give it just enough gas to stay ahead but it sounds like I'm going all out even though I'm barely pushing 2.5 rpms! Then these silly people think they kept up with me.
Anyway, you guys are giving me the moral support I need. Maybe next time I'll drop the hammer and let them **** themselves as I tear off.

I love how loud my car is, now on the other hand, my girlfiend hates it with a passion, she always asks why I can't close my cutout. Today they had grauation at LSU and Pres. Bush was speaking so people were everyway waiting to see them pass, and when I was on my way to class, I drove by the University lab school they had a 4~5th grade class standing outside waiting doing the arm pull to get people to honk ther horns, when I rolled by they did it for me so i threw it in neutral and revved it up good for them all, they loved it!, they all started yelling for me to do it again.
you should try driving my car with a stage 4 clutch and 4.56 gears through the lsu campus. im going 10mph in 1st and it sounds like im going 40
and when i leave the red light the car lunges forward cause the clutch dont slip. you think that dont draw attention. no im not embarassed all i have to do it tap the gas and make the car lunge forward almost pulling the tires and they know it anint slow.
