New intake at SEMA: MSD Airforce
#62
Summit is now showing the intake. I also found it on Speedway Motors site and Colorado Speed.

#2702 I think is the correct p/n for LS1's. $949.95 is the price shown. It is showing a ship date of 11/18/14 but I would be suspicious if that is a default date set up for the vendor. Who knows, maybe it is a valid date.

I'm sure it's nice. I'm hoping to see good numbers from it when somebody dyno's it.
It's too much money. They priced it HIGHER than the F.A.S.T?
If it doesn't outperform the F.A.S.T. manifold, they ain't gonna sell many.
If it equaled the performance and they priced it like a hundred bucks lower, they'd dominate the market.

I wouldn't believe Summit dates at all. By next week, that date will get pushed out 2 weeks, and then the same thing will happen in 2 weeks. I talked to some people high up in MSD, and they all said mid January. They have like 12 intakes made, a couple were at SEMA, a couple were in cars at the Optima Shootout, and they have some in testing.

The prices difference between the two is pretty much identical. I'd pay more for.this new one over a FAST because the FAST is ugly as sin. Plus, why make an aftermarket intake to compete against FAST and not have it out perform it??? That's just not smart business.

im really curious at how this will compare to most of us with ported FAST 92mm's. the average FAST owner isnt running it stock, most are ported. So if the stock MSD is nearly as good as or better than a ported FAST, then they have their work made out for them! I'd sell my ported FAST for one of the MSD units. Time will tell what real world results show.

The intake is now on Jegs site. It is posted at the same list price everyone has seen but with my IHRA discount I can get it from them for $855.48! So we should see lower prices filter into the market. I would almost guarantee the MSD product managers are watching the social media marketplace and I would imagine there is a high probability the list pricing could be subject to change during the products release.

I'm willing to bet the LSXr will outperform this by a good margin and the LSXrT will be even better. If this was a $600 intake ala the Holley high-ram, then I bet it would sell well. I doubt we see dyno results any better than a FAST 90/92. I still can't see these plastic intakes having a very high unit-price to produce...

I would love to see some back to back numbers between this intake and a FAST 102. Really could care less about the FAST 102 truck intake because it doesn't fit anyway.

There's a good question.
For me, I have to ask, "Has it been modded to address the C5 cowl area, without needing Hinson's shorter motor mounts?"
I also wonder if the Cathedral version will accept actual LS1 injectors, or if this one needs short ones or what.
