Default A/C delete poll

Ive been thinking about deleting my ac this winter. I live in upstate New York and rarely use it. Figured I can clean up the engine bay and utilize the chrs1313 non ac.

Do you have A/C deleted?

If you decide to remove it, you always have the option of reinstalling it.

Same here. I can count on one hand how many times I've used it in the 4 years I've owned the car. Might as well yank it out till somebody complains lol

I deleted mine finally after 8 years. I maybe used it 2 times ever. I grew up in cars with no ac, just rolled down the window and drive faster if you want more air. If someone complains about being hot, they can get a ride from someone else. My car, my time, my money, my decisions.

I was originally going to pull it out nicely so that everything was intact, but my car isn't rare, and if I really wanted it, I can find one easily. Cut off at the firewall, but notched it and drilled 3 holes in the plate to keep the heater core and be able to still have a functioning heater in the fall. Plugs, wires, heads, headers, coil packs, it is all a breeze without all of that crap in the way. I forget how much weight I removed, but after the compressor, condenser, and belt removed, just taking the heater core and cutting the box flush was something like 5-5.5lbs removed. Its somewhere over 40+ lbs removed if you do it completely. Some really good threads in the Drag Racing section here on tech with instructions, pictures and weights.

Since my car isn't a dd and the ac hasn't worked since I bought it, I took it all out when I did my cam swap last year.

I have mine deleted, but I want to put it back on. The previous owner actually deleted it. I live in Alabama, and it gets pretty steamy in the summer time. I believe that AC is worth the tiny bit of power loss you get, and how often do you really change your plugs?

That said, of it's mainly a track car, why not? Mine is just a 99% street car, so to me it'll be worth having. You could always still use the Chris1313 AC version. You lose what? Half a mph vs the non-AC version?

Your defrost won't work as well if you don't scrub the
humidity out of the air.

I think I read that you pick up more than .5 MPH with the non AC version... If that's the case then maybe I'll leave the AC in.

I was pretty shocked to find mine still had working AC when I got it. But then again, when it's 120* in July/August, it's kind of a must have. No matter what I ever do to this car, mine will always stay.
