Default K&N FIPK Filter Replacement

Hello All,

Currently running the K&N FIPK that was installed on my car when I bought it many years ago, however I have been experiencing the typical "over-oiling" and MAF issues despite being very careful when I cleaned/re-oiled.

Does anyone make a "dry" filter that is a plug and play in the K&N FIPK kit? I found an old thread with a link to an Amsoil filter however the link was dead and I couldn't find anything else online.

Anyone ever removed/replaced the oiled K&N filter in the FIPK?

Thanks!

If you change the rubber coupler you can pick whatever filter you want. Just have to figure out how to bolt it to the tab on the front of the radiator cover.

I was thinking the same, however I figure someone else has already done this and it would be helpful to hear what they used and how it all worked out.

those things are terrible for anything but heating the intake charge

if I bought a car with one of those I would have changed it for a factory airbox, aftermarket lid, and paper filter before I changed the oil on the car...then free ram air mod or a nice ram air scoop under the airbox

I did just this. When I bought my 00 SS it had the FIPK on it. Just switched to a FTP lid and chrs 1313 and I can't believe the difference it made. IMO that FIPK is junk. Go on ebay and for 40-60$ you can get the factory air box and radiator support.

x3. FIPK was on mine when I bought it. Swapped for a lid and SSRA. It made a huge difference when my car was otherwise stock. Just a lid over an FIPK will be an improvement but an SSRA/FTRA/Chris1313 will be the real difference maker.

My Express van has a cylindrical filter that fits right
onto the end of the "Oreo" MAF. Maybe this would do
what you ask. Whether what you ask is what you
really want....

Valid point! It sure feels like I need to be leaning more towards selling the FIPK and searching online for the lower air intake piece, a lid, a filter and bellows.

Anyone dying to try a FIPK and want to swap for a lid setup?
