Lol nice! I figure once it goes on the car I could care less what it smells like since the car smells like smoke and gas anyways lol

I went on youtube and looked up homemade smoke machine.
I rigged up a coffee can with compressed air and feed it threw my intake to find a vacuum leak. Glycerin, water and some heat.

Yeah I went on YouTube and saw that too lol. To me though, it's much easier to buy some smoke bombs for 15 bucks and just do it that way

Just throwing this out there, and sometimes stating the obvious but it appears like...

Glue on base and inside (8 dabs): from tightening it down with the stock vc bolts. Repairing the damage that was done.

Epoxy or glue to hold the shell together: Perhaps when the po went to repair the damage from tightening down with stock vc bolts, they ruined, or didn't trust the ribbon seal, that seals the upper to the lower shell.

Fuzz in runners: This looks like it could have been excess epoxy that oozed out from the upper to the lower, that was ground down/away, and not cleaned properly.

To me it doesn't look like this intake has been on a running motor since the repairs were made. That fuzz wouldn't be there if it had. Can you wipe it away like it appears it can be?

Leave it be if your smoke test shows it is sealed properly.

Ok guys the intake passed the smoke test. Can't find any visible leaks. Jay-P what you're saying makes a lot of sense to me after studying the intake more. At this point I'm wondering if I should leave that existing glue over the 8 holes on the bottom or take it off and replace it with something more substantial. As it sits, the stuff is hard and dry, but on a couple of the holes I could literally rip it off by hand if I wanted. Any thoughts on this?

When you say rip it off by hand what do you mean exactly? Like you can sit there and pick away at it, eventually removing it all?
Or something along the likes of say an egg on a frying pan, where if you pried up on it, the whole thing will come up in one full piece.

If the latter, I would remove them and reapply some silicone type product.

Well kind of. Basically picture the glue spots (about the size of a quarter) are very dry and hard and on at least two of them i can slide my fingernail under the ridge and probably rip it off if I apply enough pressure. And it feels like the whole thing would come off in one chunk maybe. Does that makes sense? I'm sure nothing would get under the ridge and tear it off since the intake doesn't move or slide but I'm just not sure.

I'd peel off any suspect ones and redo them, but that's me. Your smoke test went ok so it's up to you.

I'm thinking that's what I'll do. You don't think the heat would melt that glue do you?

Hard to say without knowing exactly what it is. I'd rip them off and put something you know and trust on the cracks.

Probably what I'll do just to be safe. I'm also gonna clean up the ports a tad and do the bump stop mod to the TB as well. I figure that shouldn't hurt anything

That's pretty cool actually! Thanks for posting that! Looks like it could be a viable for me actually. This way there would be no worries about the epoxy breaking apart, corrosion, etc...all of which scares me a bit especially since I'm running nitrous which will not only increase pressure but will add fuel and N20 into the equation

Just wanted to let everyone know that the intake I bought from a member on here us basically junk! Long story short it's leaking in several places, the map sensor is warped, and the back is basically just glued together (cleverly disguised though) causing even more leaking. Tried sealing things up but eveytime we did it would just leak from another spot. The members username on here is lsx2000z28 and he is a complete fraud! Just though I'd let everyone know

Thanks scotty! I agree...I don't understand how people can live with themselves that pull this ****! We all work hard for our money and share the same love for these cars. Hopefully this word will spread and no one will buy from him on here again. Funny thing is I tried texting him yesterday and the dude said I must have the wrong number...what a total dipshit lol!!

You ask what's the plan now?? Well since the throttle body was at least okay I went ahead and ordered a brand new Fast 92 intake, so I'll be back in the game very soon here

Thanks guys! Totally forgot about the trader feedback section. I'll definitely post it up there. Intake should be in today or tomorrow so I'll be up and running by this weekend I'm sure.
