ls1 e30 exhaust too loud

ls1 e30 exhaust too loud My ls1 swap in my e30 is now complete and I had a custom exhaust made for it, it's a dual 2.5 in mandrel bend in an x pipe to a dual in dual out muffler.
The muffler is a knockoff magnaflow, you can kinda see inside of it it's x shaped, and you can see through it.
The car is unbelievably loud..., the drone very high at cruising speeds
Would using a quality muffler lower the noise considerably without affecting performance?
What muffler should I look into? I need a dual in dual out soo not too much choice
I though of adding high flow catalytic converters, the bullet types, but I don't want to lose too much performance, the car already has block huggers headers which supposedly restrict some flow.

The high flow catalytic converters would not hurt performance that bad plus Im sure a couple hp would be worth having a more comfortable car. Do you have any pictures or videos of the e30?

It has a tailpipe dumping out the back of the car, unfortunately the only way to route the exhaust in the bmw is to have the muffler in the back in the stock location, there is physically no other place for me to put the exhaust.
ll take a video of it, I only have one with headers only, and that was LOUD!
Would you guys advice on putting cat's or just trying with a quality muffler?
Muffler brand wise, which ones provide the best flow and lower the volume of the exhaust ( i know it's a contradiction...)
I can always but the cat's on later since I eventually have to get the car inspected.

To answer your question , magnaflow mufflers are really the ones that flow well and have a tame sound.
Here's a video of different mangnaflow mufflers on a ls3 Camaro , your ls1 should be quieter in theory.

I have a Dynomax Ultraflow dual 2.5" inlet/ dual 2.5" outlet that I planned to use but I went in a different direction. It was under my car for a month but never had exhaust run through it so It's like new except for some surface rust on the welds. I paid over $100 for it but would take $75.00 shipped.
