you would think that the MSDs are good since its MSD (especially for the $$$), but some people have said the MSDs are junk. i dont think that there has been any testing tho.

I have a set of Taylor LS2 hi output coils and 2 of them have broke already when CAREFULLY removing the wire with dielectric grease on the inside of the boots, the center cores came out with the wires. Needless to say, I do not recommend Taylor LS2 coils. I am also using Taylor 10.5mm wires. Anything but Taylor gets my vote.

Stock... or if you can find the 6L truck coils with the heatsinks... they are supposedly better. The aftermarket stuff is pretty junky.

There is no special year some had them some had others. They are the D585 coils. You will also need the brackets that go with them.

Taylor makes coils? Are they as bad as their wires?

Have a look at the sticky in this section called "The truck ignition coil upgrade"

Unless something is wrong with your coils, just leave them alone and put your time and money elsewhere.

I was reading earlier today, there have been comparisons with the external heat shield coils. Some have shown a 9 hp gain, 6 hp gain and NO gain. Might have been in a sticky.

If the GM V8s before this made due with a single coil and distributor which worked just fine and the LS variants all have coil per cylinder what leads you to believe an upgrade is needed?
By the 90s ignition upgrades were pretty much a gimmick to take your money.

Many aftermarket companies make junk products that are easily installed just to get your money.

If someone dramatically increases cylinder pressure or something then ignition "upgrades" may be worth looking into but on a near stock motor it is not a good avenue.

unless you have a misfire CEL code, then there is 99.9% nothing wrong with your plugs or wires ... & if there is, i assure you $500 coils will do you NO better than OEM / auto parts store oem replacements.
