Default Question re: D585 coils vs. Brackets/Harnesses

Hi guys,

In the market for some better coils to ease my paranoia. Some high-RPM stuttering going on when engine compartment is heat-soaked.

Question is, do the D585 coils share the same mounting holes and electrical plugs as the standard/old/whatever truck coils? I'd like to just buy a set of 8 new coils and use my brackets and wiring since I have a few sets of that already.

Thanks ahead of time for your time to help me out.

Nobody? Seemed like such a simple question I felt silly asking. Maybe I am still silly for asking but still need an answer.

Il try to help you out as im dealing with coils on my car now as well. The d585 coils have the mounting holes on the sides of the coil, vs the other style of coils that have the mounting holes on the top and bottom.

it's my understanding you will need coils, coil harness, and a coil bracket and the brackets

you can get all of this as a set from the classifieds for around $100

I would suspect fuel issues before coil issues, the GM coils are extremely reliable

Thank you, gentlemen. Should I interpret this as "D585 coils use a specific bracket?" Or do they use the same bracket and connector as the other truck coils? I have all truck sets right now.

You are right that it isn't a coil problem. Finally caught it acting up while logging and knock retard is coming in right then. Haven't gotten to the point of tuning the knock sensors yet..LS1 sensors in side of LS2 block. Guess it's time to eat that can of worms.

But I still eventually want the coils that all the cool kids have so want to verify if they have a truly unique bracket/harness or if truck setups share.

Thank you again for your time.

Let me know how that tuning goes because I am about to swap an ls2 into mine and will be opening that same can of worms.

The brackets are specific to the d585 coils. I already use the square type coils on mine (I think they look better and I got them for $40).

Yes sir. Will do. Hopefully just a matter of modifying the sensitivity/gain/whatever. Thanks for the info.

You need the specific brackets that go with the d585 coils. The other truck coils have different brackets for there bolt pattern. The wiring harness are the same.
