Default Ditching the lid

I currently have the FTP 104 lid setup on my z28. I'm thinking of ditching it in favor of something that goes over the core support and behind the front bumper. Anyone done this, btw I have no hood clearance issues. Pics would be a plus.

Similar. But specifically someone who has done it over the core support while keeping the a/c in tact.

You could run it off to the side like Martin@tick used to have when he was a nitrous car

I could but I have a race style cowl, and I don't mind ditching the washer tank, plus I have a small tube upper bumper support.

You think there'd be room? What size tubing are you planning to run?

I'm almost positive there is enough room. If not I can notch the front of the core support. I have a race weight hood so the cowl is pretty much unobstructed. 4" tubing.

HISS, what's the consensus? I messed around yesterday measuring and trying to figure out if it can be done with keeping air, and I just don't think it's possible.

I have done this and retained a/c. You have to cut into your radiator core support aggressively to achieve this.

I used 4" tubing at the license plate opening smoothly merging with 3.5" piping coming up through the radiator support. Both were 75 degree pieces. Pretty tight fit. I have a velocity stack with an inline filter up front as well.

Edit*

If it wasn't obvious before, you need to ditch your washer fluid tank and crash support. Or cut it up, that would be a pita. I had to make new hood latch supports because the hood flutter, on top of having to slam it to get it to latch.

Definitely possible. Like was stated before lose the washer tank, and hood latch, as well as notching the core support, and either cutting or replaceing the bumper support with a tubular piece.

So you going to do it? If you do, post up progress pics.

If I end up finishing the car I will. I'm kinda at a crossroads where I feel irresponsible for dumping money into the car......so there's that. But I sold the lid in preparation to do it. I will definitely update my build thread if and when I do it. Building the motor will have to come first.
