High horsepower ls
I took the leap of faith and now I am second guessing myself...
I am switching my current 383 stoker over to an ls powerplant. I found a wrecked avalanche 5.3 with the plans of supercharging it now that I was looking whipple kit and procharger but i will have close to $7,000 before I even get it bolted up not including motor work.. I was thinking the turbo route but that's a lot of piping and fab work. Was also thinking of going to a 6.0 and doing a 408 stroker but i wont be near my hp goal. My other thought is a used ls7 and doing a head and cam swap. would be close to my power goal on all motor and still be streetable. with an ls7 swap is there anything different ?
I currently make around 500hp at the crank and want to get around 700 to make it worth it. I am going to start racing my car a lot more and want to go faster. mid to low 10s is the goal.
Thanks,
Andrew

The 5.3 is a great platform for a turbo build. If 700 flywheel HP is your goal, I'd go the turbo route. You could even opt for one of the cheap turbo kits from a place like On3 or CXRacing. If you're looking for good quality, and still pretty affordable, then I'd checkout Huron Speed. You also need to consider that if you want to make 700 flywheel HP, you're going to need to address your fuels system. Bigger injectors for sure, big or dual fuel pumps, hotwire kit, etc.

I had thought turbo but it's a lot of fab work and gonna be hard to swap into my application. Not much on nitrous, never have been. Thinking either 408 striker with no inter cooled pro charger or a head cam ls7.
Car is setup with fuel system but will need to do bigger rails and injectors when I build the motor

This is a very good option if you shop around a lot and piece it all together.
