LS1 rebuild
I am going to have the stock crank turned to fix what got messed up.
I was going to do a cam, when I put it back together. I have a few questions about what else I should change.
I would like to bump the compression, is their enough room to mill the heads on the factory motor?

As long as the crank will clean up and the block checks out ok.
A rod and piston upgrade would be the way to go since you are looking for a little more compression it is the time to attack it now.
The heads can be milled a little depending on what cam you are going with and what piston gets used.
How many miles were on the old combo?
Are the heads in good shape?
Good opportunity to get those done as well. (at a min. have them lapped and fresh seals installed, your going to be installing new springs for that camshaft you want anyways)
Since this engine spun a bearing we would recommend changing all components that flow oil.
-oil pump
-lifters
-rockers
-pump pick up
Until you get the block cleaned up you can't shop for pistons.
best plan would be to
-get a good balanced rotator (minimal cost difference between your turned crank and an aftermarket base part)
-quality machine work
-get the heads run through at a min. or ported
-select a valve train (cam rockers timing set)
-have a builder assemble.
We can sell you parts and services to do it yourself or we can knock out the process for you.
Thanks for the options. Right now I have located a ls1 truck crank with a 24 wheel and is stock, I am going to buy a rebuild kit and put the motor back together. I am not sure if I like the m3 platform, so going to just get it running. If I like the car then I will do a big build and see about building a 500hp motor.

I will be ordering a cam, and then putting the motor back together. I have some new rods in route. I just need to order my engine rebuild kit, and clean out the SLP oil pump. This motor rebuild is the least of my worries on this build, the wiring harness is so hacked in the bmw that is what I am fearful of jumping into, it is also the only thing I have never messed with on any of my projects.
