You should also have the fans adjusted to come on at a lower temp if they weren't adjusted with the tune. My car runs about 180 with a LT1 radiator and a 160 thermostat cruising and maybe gets to 190 after a pull.

When your coolant temperatures rise dramatically after WOT performance this is a sign of improper ignition timing (on an N/A engine with reasonable compression and 93 octane). Ideally very little of your produced exhaust temp will get into the coolant system. There should be little to NO temp rise. What is your EGT say during the run? Are you aware of it, and is it very high? Are you naturally aspirated? How much timing are you using during WOT?

the more temp rise that your parts get (head/block/exhaust/etc) the more energy you are throwing away. If you run an engine with a retarded timing for example (say you went WOT with 5* btdc) your EGT will skyrocket, engine VE may still be good, but torque will fall dramatically and a majority of the energy from fuel will show up in the coolant/exhaust temps as the hard parts try vigorously to get rid of it.

It may inconsequential if the rise is only a couple *F and immediately returns to normal, but you should not be seeing +10*F for example after a single run on a weak~ engine (around 1HP/cubic inch is "weak" and should not produce that kind of temp rise)

I recieved my steam vent kit. It was supposed to work with a fast 102 intake, but itvwont fit with the intake in place.

Will it be ok if I cut it in half and joined it with the 4" rubber hose it came with, so that it can bend around the bottom of the intake? I dont think it should be a problem, as I dont think it is a high pressure line. Any thoughts?.

It's not a high pressure line so you can do it. If you do, rent a double flaring tool. It will put a bulge on the pipe where you cut it so when you clamp the hose you get a positive seal behind the flare.

I actually bent mine into place but your solution is probably better.

Haha. My old man said just to bend it too. He also suggested cutting and attaching the hose if i didnt bend it.

I doubt anybody sells this steam vent that will go around the intake. C& R racing has a steam vent kit you plumb yourself, but its like $130 or something like that. Not worth the money to me.

When you bent it did it get any kinks in it ?

Nope. I installed with the intake off, set the intak down, made small bends until the intake dropped into place. All with the throttle still bolted to the intake.
