Default LS 6.0 intake questions

Hi I'm new to the LS engines. I'm an old school small block guy. I have question for anybody that can tell me or give me any information. Question is, I have a Chevy 2002 Silverado 2500hd. And I'm having alot issues with the stock plastic intake manifold. I was looking into getting a Edelbrock carb intake manifold. Comes with a MSD control box. Is there any way that I can use that intake in my truck? If not whats out there for aftermarket intake that's made of metal. That will work. I just trying to do my homework so I don't mess up my truck/motor. Any and all inputs are great. Thanks for the help.

What kind of issues...??? I have a bunch of these running out of my shop that we service with over 200,000 miles on them...one in particular that has 335,000, and one that is documented 410,000...

Other than gaskets on all of them...I have seen no issues...

Welcome to LS1tech!

The 6.0 engine is a computer controlled fuel injected engine. The PCM (Powertrain Control Modual) controls everything. Fuel, ignition, throttle (drive by wire, no cable here), transmission, air conditioning, alternator output, cruise control, even the instrument cluster gauges.

It's rather difficult to simply swap a carb onto these engines. Even the fuel system is incompatible as it's high pressure.

Why don't you tell us about your problems with the intake manifold?

The problem is I can't get a tight seal. I've changed the gaskets and its still comes up with it leak. I'm lost. I saw the carb intake in summit catalog. And I've been looking around and asking different people if this a possible swap.

Yeah those are the same ones I bought. I was told the orange/red ones are junk so I went with the green ones. Along with the egr tube that hooks into the intake. That's another problem. Like to delete it but I read that the check engine light would stay on.

It's possible the manifold is warped. Also, the manifold bolts should not be tightened too much.

Where does it leak?

I'd look around for a used intake...5.3 and 6.0 swappers are always trying to sell their intakes because they want the LS1-LS6-FAST intakes...They almost give them away. I think Dorman even sells a "new" replacement truck intake...

Putting a carb on an LS engine is setting yourself back 20 years...
