Mine was near half full with about 200-300 miles on it. Works GREAT!

Very easy to drain, too.

It is installed inline of your PCV system to catch oil that's passing through it. This prevents your motor from ingesting this oil back into the motor and leading to a higher probability of detonation.

Hard to hook up?

No.

Where do you get one?

There are also other ways to mount it. Just do a search

Looks like a good mod to have........didnt know that much oil passed through the pcv, kinda disturbing. Might need to invest in one.

Yep, a good investment. Here's another example. This is after about 400 miles. It's only about 1/2 an ounce but what would be there after 2 or 3 thousand miles?

I installed mine on Thursday... Not even 100 miles, and I have at least a teaspoon or more of oil in there already.

Man, that thing looks nice in the engine bay..

Default Check It Often

I've got something similar on one of my motorcycles and things can get exciting if you forget to empty it periodically. You're afraid of what the oil vapors will do to your engine, imagine what a big slug of the slop in the can will do if it gets sucked in.

Raven05, That's why I would suggest that anyone having a catch can check it every two hundred miles for the first one thousand miles, at that piont you should have a good idea how often the catch can needs draining.

DARK AGE 53, good recommendation. Also, on my bike, rain or just damp weather cause a lot more of that glop to accumulate. I would assume the same would be true for an automobile.

Does the filter ever need to be changed? If so does anyone make a replacement filter, or what should be used?

The "filter" is a wire mesh of sorts (think steel wool, only very coarse), and would only need to be cleaned with brake cleaner if it gets dirty.

I used a air compressor air/water seperator for my catch can. Cost me like 15-20 bucks at the hardware store. I have had it on the car for over a year now and have never had to empty it. If I had to empty it it would be very easy the glass container screws off and since it is clear its easy to see if it needs to be emptied. My car just doesn't get that much blow by.

Only problem with the homemade setups or the Air compressor componets is that it looks ghetto. I love my AMW can! I have it mounted in a different spot than anyone else and it looks good to
