Default Pulling Engine By The Valley Bolts

Need to pull an LM4 out of a swapped Sonoma to replace a broken oil pan. It is really tight and wondering if I could pull the engine out using valley cover bolts. Tranny will be disconnected and the engine, being all aluminum, will be a little lighter, but don't know if the valley cover bolts are strong enough.

Anyone ever done this? If so, how many bolts did you use?

Yes, this is very common. You can make up your own plate or buy one already made.

I'll take it one step further, I used a valley lifting plate to install my LM4 motor AND t56 trans at once in my '00 Hombre. I used all 10 bolts and just snugged them all in.

Didn't have time to make or buy one, so it was a tight fit, but getting one is definitely planned.

Definitely get a valley plate. I've pulled iron lm7 in a pinch by 4 valley cover bolts. 2 to lift and 2 just in case. but it was sketchy & I wouldn't recommend it.

I've been moving an iron 5.3, bolted to 4l80e for months, in and out of a swap, using only 4 corner cover bolts, and a harbor freight engine leveler

I use the Mac tie down spreader bar with tilt bracket.
Works sweet
