Default LS1 Stack Manifold

I am planning a flat black Brunton stalker (lotus 7 clone) and the thought of these sticking through the hood is just too tempting not to ask about:

Way cool! I just can't run my car on the street without an air filter. I have yet to see an 8 stack FI with good looking air filters.

Speedmaster used to be Pro-Comp, then Speedmaster79. Now Speedmaster. Cheap off shore copies of quality parts. http://www.coloradospeed.com/buyer-b...er-ezp-88.html Never buy cheap parts, they're too expensive.

Stacks are really cool. But they can be a bit finicky, and need some time and effort to perform correctly. You also have to be very careful about head and cam selection to make them work right. If you want a good set up, contact Wayne Presley at www.verycoolparts.com

I love my stack set up.

I have cast an eight stack 65mm butterfly ITB intake manifold WITH cast in air filters for over ten years.
This has been tested many times with a 50-100 HP increase depending on engine size.
Wayne is one here that is a approved vendor that sell our items from time to time.
The throttle shafts are perpendicular the the crankshaft (eight) with "ball bearings" instead of bushings.

No more stupid "China Junk" or china based comments please.
Everything we all own is china junk.

Does it work or not, is the company reputable? Technical things I should know... that's all I care about. My whole car would be china made if it worked and was cheap.

Would love to hear about the finicky nature of these. Obviously yours are of higher quality so I'm curious where the challenges lay.

I'm guessing the linkages are the main headache

Yes, the linkage is the big issue. All throttle bodies must open the exact same amount at the exact same time. Initially, I struggled with getting it to work right. Eventually I tossed out the linkage that was supplied with the kit, and built my own. That made a huge difference.

You'll need some special tools to get the balance just right. That's a tedious process, but pays off in huge dividends. I do it about twice a year.

And, no, none of this is cheap Chinese junk. These are high quality parts designed and built right here in the US. The throttle bodies were designed and built here in CO. The ECU was designed and built in the US as well.

There's no room in my garage for cheap Chinese junk.

Sorry, I meant the ones I'm looking at are chineese junk, which is why I wanted to ask you what maintenance is required with your setup.

Because I'm assuming it would be a lot worse with these cheaper units.

Another option I found:
inglese makes some nice setups, they also sell only the manifold.
http://www.theefistore.com/index.php...ld-only-detail

Could be a great starting point, some fabrication could mate this manifold to 2 sets of motorcycle ITBs which has been done several times in the import world

Depending on the level of aggravation you're willing to accept, I'd stay away from the Chinese stuff and/or building your own. Tolerances, materials, etc will be far less than the players (Harrop, Jenvey, Kinsler). Though I'm not sure if Harrop does a "stack" style in the end, you get what you pay for applies.

Think about provisions for MAP, IAC too. Bob touched on some of the tuning pains in getting them set up. Blade synchronization, blade sizes (again, going back to tolerance), blade position at idle, linkage adjustability, etc....other than that, slap a fat cam in and enjoy the throttle response.

Default ITB Throttle Sync & Balance Passage

Hi Bob, you are correct with your report for quality linkage needed for good "sync".
My LS-1/7 ITB eight stack uses 65mm butterflies made of .080" thick Brass ALSO needed for GOOD closed throttle air control. (Low Idle RPM)

Your next concern was solved using my method of positioning the throttle shafts perpendicular to the crankshaft all mounted on "ball" bearings.
There are ONLY two, L & R, linkage bars set when assembled with little chance for miss-alignment or future adjustment.
Thus the only "sync" is for the Left & Right banks which is quite simple to get correct.

The castings ALSO address another concern of yours, the AIR BALANCE, by a provision of a 5/8" bore passage way to provide EVEN air distribution under the butterfly AND easy ability to connect that passage to MAP, VAC, etc. (OVRKILL reply)

And that's what you're paying "extra" for, IMO. That kind of precision is what makes the difference. Sloppy work and specs make it difficult - if not impossible - get the engine to perform as it should. Quality components bolt on and work with minimal hassle, and still work 10 years later. Cheap stuff...........

Never buy cheap parts. They're too expensive.

Lance, you need to work on your web site a bit. You need more pics of cool stuff.
