BUILD THREAD "My son's first T/A - Bracket Car"

Finally got the car on the scales today and was pleasantly surprised...
3240# with an iron block, heavy S60, both leather/power seats (88#) and a 1/4 tank of gas. Came home and removed another 14# (wiper motor/arms) so yeah, 3226# Pretty sure I can get it to 3000# with NO wallet mods before the 8pt. goes in.

Yeah, I would be interested in seeing a dead hook. The mph looks good. There is no reason that car shouldnt be cutting low 1.5 or better. Honestly 1.4's. I say that from experience on my car that cant be making the power yours is. Its a cam only (MS3), th-350, 4000-4200 stall, 4.10 gear, 3,500lb race weight, and cut low and mid 1.5's driving it to the track and straight to the line without ever turning the car off during the summer. I live in S.C. so we dont get the good da until fall.
Im betting your car has 1.4's in it the way it sits. My car seemed to like a 1,500-2,000rpm launch the best.

I think the car has 6.90's in it with a low 1.5x 60'
I'm going to a Runday Sunday this weekend to try again. Track should be a little better than Friday night T&T (a lot of fresh rubber down from the Saturday night racing).

Man do we need a cage(and possibly a drag bar)...she was doing the Vin Diesel Twist bad today.
With us both in the car, son driving, it cut a 1.55 60' and a 4.50 330' (we can't run it all the way out with two people in the car) this equates to a 7.05 1/8th mile time
Alternator gave up, killed the battery, and we were done before I got a chance to run it by myself....6.90's will have to wait a little longer I guess.

Removed another 72# today (totally offset the weight of the 8pt cage going in).
-Passenger air bag-14.2#
-Heater box and ducts-26.8#
-Hood bracing-8.4#
-About 3/4 of the rubber/insulation along firewall-6.8#
-Bucket of wires and metal stuff I cut out with a cutoff wheel/hole saw-15.8#
Still need to do rear bumper support, door bars, and fender supports (~44#)

A little Weight Reduction update...all items weighed on a digital scale accurate to .2lbs. TOTAL = 451.6 to date Car now weighs 3066#. I know where 40# more is...so 3026#.
Add back in the 67# for 8pt cage and ~20# for Kirkey seat and mounts brings her back to 3113#....Not to shabby for a heavy *** T/A with an iron 6.0 and S60

Black Mariah's first 1/4 mile pass!
First time on the 1/4 (w/decent prep) she went 10.89 @ 122.38 1.46 60' DA was +1829
I've been struggling with traction at my local 1/8 mile, with crap prep, and unable to dial in shock setting. Went to BMP last night T&T and the prep was good in the beginning and then all the diesel truck showed up...Time slips attached.
SBE LQ4 w/ LS3 top end and a nitrous cam. She gonna be deep in the 9's when I get a nitrous tune (and find some nitrous )
