Default Lq4 408

Dual cutouts. I know this thread has been beatin on and on. But most of them are all on stock cubes. I have a 408 ls3 top end 11.4:1 c/r
My car looses a lot of power up top I have stock 345 cme exhuast package with a dmh low pro cutout on the i pipe right now was mainly for sound before now I want them for some power. My tuner said my exhuast is way to restricting. So would dual cutouts on collectors or where the y pipe starts to bend to come to the merge be a good place to free my restricting exhuast??

That would work as long as it's at least 18" from the oxygen sensor. The thing about having such a big change in exhaust flow is more than likely when your tuned for the cutouts it won't be safe with them closed. That's the problem with my 408. The tuner said not to run the car hard unless the cutout is open. I have hptuners so I can swap between tunes but I just take it easy on it until I open the exhaust. I'm running 1 4" cutout but it's reduced back to 3" into a Hooker car back.

I was told by pat g to get a 4" merge and a 4" I pipe with a 4" cutout and neck it back down to 3" for the rest of my exhuast. But I already got my other cutout and am not sure ws6 store will take an exchange bc I ordered the dmh low pro cutout... And was hoping dual cutouts will be somewhat similar and get more flow My cars powerband really takes a **** after like 5.4k rpms

The one on the right was my old 2.5 set up that I added the dumps right at the bends an it sounded nasty! Nascar nasty lol an seems that it would Rev out harder! No dyno sheet but it worked well.. but got flicked so had to change it lol

Why did you go with another setup man? Got tired of the sound or what?
I'm just hoping I can get the most out of my motor my old 1 3/4 headers and stock exhuast was killing my top end on the dyno and got some depressing *** numbers
Just put in 1 7/8 and about to do the cutouts

Well at the time my car only had 37k on it an i just did a cam, slp intake, 1-7\8 headers and it already had the 2.5 y pipe on it as it dynoed 396..always wanted to brake the magical number of 400 hp to the wheels "cam only"! So I did the manual dumps but when I got pulled over with a $140 ticket I debited an then just went with a full 3" y pipe and a slp2 an dump before the axel but got pulled over less then a week ago so got to change again :-( but never dynoed it after the full 3" inch but I'm pretty sure the 2.5 with the cutouts flowed a lil better then my 3" set up lol
