Default Help with ls6 intake -how to plug egr

I have what I think is an ls6 intake with a massive hole for what must be egr. Does anyone know of a company that makes a screw on cap to plug this? If I've misidentified can you help out? I read somewhere there were some ls6 intakes that had holes for egr.

I've never seen an EGR like that. I could be wrong but it looks to me like someone rigged that up themselves to maybe pass smog on an EGR car? Most LS6 intakes didn't come with EGR. i actually think that none of them had EGR except the aftermarket SLP ones or something like that. I would go to Home D po and get a metal screw on fitting for it. You should b able to plug that right up and be on your way.

I see, I wonder if I can remove it. To be honest it's hideous and I'd prefer to just delete it. I'd have to figure out what to patch the hole with.

Yea deleting it might be more trouble. What about capping it, then taping the intake manifold off and painting it black. Try to blend it in and hide it.

Not a bad idea. Maybe I should just sell it. There's bound to be someone in California or somewhere someone wants to keep their egr and have a ls6 manifold

Im sure someone in cali would buy it. I wouldn't be surprised if the previous owner used it to pass smog and then took off the egr and capped it. Then two years later put it on, smog and take it off again.

That's a great point, being able to switch back and forth should be pretty desirable.

My ls6 intake had the same exact provision for egr as yours does. It's actually an easy fix. After you remove that brass fitting, get a freeze plug and put in there. I'll look at mine in a bit and tell you the exact size. I'll also attach a picture of it for reference.

That would be awesome, I'm happy to hear it wasn't a owner modification

That most likely is a slp ls6 intake . My slp has that I used a swagelok cap to plug it many years ago . Believe it is a 3/4 size you need. https://www.swagelok.com/en/catalog/...?part=B-1210-P

Here is the freeze plug, picked it up off the shelf at an auto parts store. The one I used is a 1 inch, which fit perfectly.

I'm trying to also find the "prettiest" way to cap it. Not sure what to do yet

There is no pretty way to do it honestly I capped it and painted the cap black. Its hard to hide it with it sticking out like that.

I was afraid of that. I put it up for sale so someone who actually needs the port for EGR could pick it up. I think I'm on the high priced end but I'm trying to make sure I have enough to replace it with non egr manifold. I'll just have to sit on it until it sells or I can trade it. I'd think I'd rather not hack it up so we'll see what happens.

Ya I sold mine for around 400$ with the TB and used that towards a Fast intake.
