Default Oil pan options

So I'm a little confused on oil pans I've tried searching threads but come up with a million answers, I'm looking for a oil pan for my 408 build with a ported hv pump. As I'm afraid I may have problems with sucking the stock pan dry,so anyone have any input on which pans or baffling would be a good option. Btw I have a aftermarket k member. Thanks everyone.

I can't recommend a specific one, but I can tell you most of them will require remote mount oil filter. They won't have the provision for the oil filter, and if you run long tubes, the filter won't clear.

for 98% of builds, the factory oil pans will be fine. Not like the old days when a deep pan was always needed. Just put 6qts in it and go.

Is the dorman and oem pretty close? Brand new they come with the same items but the GM one is 75 dollars more than the dorman. And you can get new for as much as people are selling used ones

Thanks for the replies everyone, I been looking at the moroso 20140 or 20142 so far, and possibly the improvedracing baffle with truck filter on the stock pan.

I had thought about using the stock one with a baffle and just put 6qt in it, but I'm still kind of worried the hv pump may suck it dry.

Just use the Melling 10295 pump on the stock pan with the Improved Racing Oil Pan Baffle and Engine Crank Scraper & Windage Tray Kit. And I think you want to use them both - they are great products to help with oil control.

Otherwise, the 10296 would be good with the Moroso 21150 and remote filter (if you need more capacity, need to run an oil cooler, or need to relocate the oil filter from a turbo or something). If that's the case, then you want the 10296 to pump oil remotely.

The only improvement there is the pickup tube vs stock. The downside is it doesn't include the scraper - but has an upgraded windage tray and oil pan baffling - so that's a wash. The other thing is the Moroso pan doesn't fit as well and costs quite a bit more.

I'd run the Improved Racing stuff with a 10295 pump.

Jake, I may have to do a little more research.

Pantera I think your pan is way overkill for my car.

Is this the one you have?

If so, it says in the description it's good for pro touring, road course and auto crossing. Doesn't mention drag racing. Just curious if you track your car? If so what kind of 60fts and how does oil pressure do?

Yes thats the one. Honestly it's all relative;it's the same design as the stock fbody pan just blueprinted and designed better with AN fitting provisions and the oil level sensor already deleted. Motor is going back in the car this weekend but I built it to be a drag/sunny day short distance driver. With the right oil pump pressures shouldn't be an issue.
