Default Anyone have direct comparisons with an TBSS intake swap on a 4.8?

I have an LS1 and an TBSS intake to choose from on my 4.8 project. I like the looks and hood clearance of the LS1 much better. I know the recent intake shootout showed some seriously impressive gains with the SSR over the LS1 intake (see attached). This was also on a pretty healthy cam/head 6.0 engine.

I’m curious what a near factory 4.8 would gain between the 2. I’ll be running the Howards version of the GM hot cam (219/228 @ 112 .525) and untouched 241 heads with dual springs. Will also be a pretty low back pressure twin turbo engine, but I don’t think that matters for what I’m asking.

Here it the link to the intake tests if you’re not familiar with it.

Well not really sure what intake you have or referring to the SSR used two different intakes 03-04 used the old truck intake and the LS2 used the TBSS or nnbs intake. My guess is asking about the TBSS / NNBS intake please clarify.

Yup meant the TBSS. I believe I was thinking they came on the SSR trucks as well as the trail blazer SS.... Heard the 5.3 LM4 SSR intake name dropped alot. Was thinking these were the same thing.

-thanks

It's this intake...

Ok gotcha yes that's a TBSS intake, Well Id definitely go with TBSS over LS1. But surprisingly so it has been reported that a small number of those that swaped from the old truck intake to the TBSS have experienced some down low TQ loss..I believe these are isolated incidents. Keep in mind gm designed with used on trucks with CR of 10:1 min and 243 heads. If you look at dyno sheets from the article you refer to , you will not see this. The TBSS is the only factory intake that makes 300 tq @ 3500 none of others come come close its king in avg TQ 3000 - 7000, and peak Torque and power too. You have to go with a fast to surpass these numbers.
