Water Pump Pulley Broke Off... Anyone seen this before? (PICTURE)
1970 Chevelle w/ 2005 LQ4 with C5 Corvette accessories. Had no issues with it, probably put about 5,000 miles on it.
Tonight, I was driving down the highway and I hear a BOOM.. lost power steering, temp climbed.. figured belt broke
Pop the hood and saw the belt still in tact, but the water pump pulley was COMPLETELY MISSING.
WTF.. was this just a bad pulley? I recently installed a vintage air system, which to use the aftermarket AC compressor, I had to install an aftermarket braket, which uses the stock tensioner, but in a different location.

Do you run the stock tensioner with the correct length belt on the accessories (AC uses a separate tensioner)? A short belt can break the pulley. The pulley could have been cracked removing or installing the motor. Rockauto has the best prices on replacement pumps so replace it and see if it happens again.
