Default LS6 valley cover or Catch Can

Can anyone tell me if it is better to run one version vs the other?

Currently have a 2002 WS6 that is getting heads/cam/intake done which will include a FAST 92 setup and was wondering if i should address the PCV system while im tearing down. Was going to purchase a mighty mouse can but was debating just changing the valley cover to a ls6 style (built in)

Any advise / recommendation would be appreciated as definitely do not want to work on this intake area more than once

Do both. The LS6 valley cover will let you remove a lot of hoses on your engine and will make it look a lot better.

Agree. I did only the LS6 valley cover and have discovered oil mist in the FAST, so now I'm getting a catch can.

if your car had an oil consumption issue before the LS6 valley cover will take care of most of it. i have both but probably didnt really need the catch can as it doesn't catch much and my IM is dry.

Yes, do both, especially if your engine has miles on it. My home-grown catch in my 250K+ miles truck can gets this much at every oil change-and I also have the LS6 PCV setup. My intake is bone dry.

Yep I run both to be safe, a few bucks to curb oil consumption is worth it.

I thought about doing this on my lq4 since I have a turbo but wondering on the gen 3 lq4 would I need to modify the block like ls1s would need to grind the block?

Only the LS1 blocks needed the grinding mod.

I thought all the iron blocks had to be modified to use the ls6 pcv breather port?

Even the aluminum LM4 block in my truck did NOT need to have the lump removed to clear the LS6 plate. It's only the LS1 blocks.

I have a 2000 lq4 and it didn't need to be modified so you should be good.

I had to correct myself-why would the LS6 block need to have the lump removed to accommodate the LS6 valley plate??

It's just the LS1 block.

^ i didn't even catch that haha.

I have breathers on both of my valve covers and everything else is capped off, but I have thought about adding the ls6 valley cover, though I have never really had any issues with consumption that I am aware of. I still think it wouldnt be bad with my setup.
