P0106 error after LS6 valley cover

P0106 error after LS6 valley cover
I installed the LS6 valley cover, and a new MAP sensor (old one looked rough). Now the car idles rough for about 5 seconds at startup, sometimes at stop lights, and almost dies when the AC is turned on. I looked at the codes, and I am getting P0106. Could the new MAP sensor be bad, or could I have screwed up one of the wires?

To add to my last post I would guess you have a vacuum leak. If the map sensor itself or a broken wire to it were the case it would still idle fine. The dip and surge in rpm is do to a vacuum leak.
Take mass air flow cleaner and spray around all your vacuum lines with the car running and listen for a motor surge.

You will also sometimes here a hissing sound sometimes with a vacuum leak. In the two pictures below is the first place I would look.
The first picture I have a green arrow pointing to the line I am talking about.
The second picture is a different angle but the green arrow is still the line I'm taking about and the red dots are the line rout. Now where I have the red arrow is were that vacuum line separates. Since it is a vacuum line there is no clip to hold the two pieces together, they just push together and are held together with vacuum. That line separates sometimes when pulling a intake but due to it being wrapped in foam it won't surge when sprayed with MAF cleaner. If it was your map sensor that was bad it would probably run and idle just fine but would still throw a code.

So this morning:
- Start the car with AC off. Idle is rough, stumbles for a few seconds, then stabilizes at just under 1K RPM. I let is sit and idle for a couple of minutes.
- Turn the AC on, stumbles for a few seconds, then stabilizes at just under 1K RPM. I let is sit and idle for a couple more minutes with the AC on.
- Car didn't die all of the way to work with the AC on. At stop lights, it would stumble a little, but didn't convulse or die like it did yesterday. I also let the engine slow the car down to the light, instead of pushing the clutch in at 3K RPM and coasting to the light.... not sure if that made a difference.
SES light came back on, will have to wait till this afternoon to check the code.

high idle points to vacuum leak as the car is raising RPM to maintain airflow needed to idle. When you turn the AC on your adding more stress to the serpentine system by the compressor engaging so that explains to me at least why your car would die when you turn it on.

I had a P0107 that made me bang my head over a MONTH. It was a combo of 2 things,
"Come to find out it wasn't the intake at all. Apparently, when I deleted my PCV when I swapped to the 04+ LS6 Valley, I opted to use a regular rubber 3/8" Vacuum Cap on the rear of the passenger valve cover, instead of the red silicone one supplied with the valley.
After 5 months, it dry rotted, and was all cracked to hell. It came apart when I went to take it off."
Moral of the story, use the supplied SILICONE plug that comes with the valley for the valve cover.
Also, I had a broken wire on my MAF pigtail (middle green wire.) A quick browse through eBay and 11 bucks later my pigtail was 100% and all my issues disappeared.

I'll have to double check the plugs on the valve covers..
