Replacement Catalytic Converters
removing the brick or its remaining chunks is an easy
(other than dealing with the rusty studs) chore. Just
drill enough into the zirconia to make some stress
concentrating holes and commence to ramming.
The bricks in my Chevy van were even easier; a
demolition hammer tore them apart like nothing (but
I had to cut trap doors in the housing, because the
cats are welded in 6' of pipe from the factory).
You'll find it a little bit "boomy" in the midrange but
free might make you tolerate it.
I now run with Mufflex tubes which are bolt-in plain
pipe. Not sure they sell them anymore, and when they
did they cost about as much as new cats.
There's also some outfit like "Cold Fire" or something
similar, that sells fake / hollow-shell "cats".
