Default Can casting number be seen behind power steering pump?

Sorry for the dumb question but as the title states, can one see the casting numbers behind the accessories and brackets?
Im looking at getting a trans am, suposed to have a 6.0 in it. And its a good drive to meet the guy with the car. I just want to make sure its an actual 6.0 and not a 5.3 with 317 heads

It is a iron block but thats all the owner knows.

The cublc inches & liters isn't dictated by the block. Its the bore/stroke that matters. You can get a 6.0l out of a standard ls1 block, ls2 or ls3.

Documentation of the engine work would be ideal. I had a stroked LS1 block im my last f-body, 6.2l 383 setup. No one would know by simply looking at the engine, cast numbers or anything. Now once I started up the car, and raced someone - than it was obvious my engine was not stock.

I understand that the block doesnt dictate the cubic inches,i also didnt mean he had a shop build the motor. He just had the shop do the swap, i just want to know 100% thats its a 6.0 and not a 5.3. Or even worse a 4.8.
Hence the reason for the question

It's embossed on the left front of the block and can probably be seen if you look with a flashlight, but it depends on what is in front of it. Some alternator brackets/ power steering pumps cover it completely. You could probably get a digital inspection camera between things to get a look at the number if it's covered completely.

I believe the 4.8 and 5.3 have the exact same #s. I know for sure both blocks say 4.8/5.3 on them. To my knowledge the only way to know the difference is rip the heads off or borescope to look for flat tops on the 4.8.

Ok here you go 2004 and earlier 4.8/5.3 casting # 12551358 the 6.0 is 12551364 ..... so if its ends in 64 its a 4' bore and if its 58 its 3.78 bore. The location is the same right rear below the head but above the bell flange. Oh and its difficult to see with the engine in the car , maybe with a high power light and a mirror , but would not bet on it. Now the aluminum blocks different story.

I was referring to casting numbers lik 4.8/5.3 and 6.0 thats stamped (or raised) on the front driver side of the block located behind the alt/power bracket.

But on a side note, is the casting numbers omc8 is talking about raised, or embosed in the block?
Iv taken playdoe and aluminum foil and pressed it over the numbes on the back of a tbi 350 to see if it was indeed a 350. Worked pretty damn good actually.
