I just can't imagine that muffler being hardly any more quiet that the SE bullet mufflers that come in the kit?

I would think a oval body Borla like the xr-1 would be more appropriate? Borla 40943

I have been looking at 40943 or 400372 (multi-core) as well and the fitment would be better. I have also found users switching to the magnaflow 12219 oval case with good success so that might be my final choice.

Vibrant also makes a muffler that I thing would fit very well.

There are also knock offs on amazon that look very similar to all of these we've been talking about.

Vibrant offers the street power 1103 however that comes in a 5”X 9” case with a 15” body, may be really tight in there. I was also looking at the Kooks oval 300-12. Flowmaster DBX catches my eye but they are back ordered until end of March unfortunately.

Flowmaster Pro series are another option but I would lose case length having to run the shorty 12” case (standard is 16” case length).
So many ways to go about this and I’d prefer to only do it once. There are almost too many choices which is making it difficult for me to decide.

Enjoyed your videos by the way. And I assume you are still running the SE bullets?

Thank you, and yes.

It is my sons car and he has just been putting up with the bullets since the install. It sounds effing amazing but if you drive the car for any longer than about 10 minutes it gets pretty tedious. and we can both tolerate more than the average guy.

I think he is leaning heavily towards the Borla XR-1s. the oval case ones. I think they will fit pretty well. A lot times you have to ignore the overall length and just pay attention to the body length. obviously you can cut several inches off of either end of the inlet and outlet pipes.

My son got the new Borlas in the house. Literally. lol

You can literally scream into them. They muffle

I'll try and get them welded in sometime in the next week or two and then more sound clips.

They are the 40943s and even though they look massive the body is literally the same length as the SE bullet muffler case.

I would love to hear a before/after exhaust sound video. I've been holding off buying the SE Exhaust system because I think it will be too loud for my taste.
Thanks,
John

Totally different application, but I put a single Borla 40944 on my Tbss. It has a touch of rasp to it but sounds pretty bad-***.

I came up with a cammed Rcsb that had a couple of Flowmaster Super 10's dumped in front of the axle. It was obnoxiously loud with the typical poppy sound most chamber mufflers have. the resonance boomed in the cab under decel when I swapped in a t56, so they had to go

I ended up picking up a pair of their FlowFx which is really a magnaflow design (about $100 cheaper for a pair) that I love. Really deep tone, no rasp, no popping

Flowmaster 71236:

I've used Flow FXs before. They are excellent mufflers. Very good magnaflow substitute.

Can’t wait to see these installed. Are you going to do a video?

I've had those borla xs mufflers with dumped duals. Relatively quiet. Moderately bearable inside the car. Usually one of the quietest cars at the racetrack.

@Mr. Black

before:

after:

it’s not quiet but it isn’t as loud as before. It killed the drone and has better tone at partial throttle and still sounds good at WOT
