Default Need a bit more power

Ran my car down the 1/8th mile (only thing thats local to me) ran a 7.3 at 93 mph. I want to drop that time a bit. I have a 2000 c5 with a yank ss 4000 stall, btr stage 4 cam, vararam, fast 78( dont think its holding me back), orx, catback, et streets(pulled a 1.58 60ft).

Is there anything you guys can think of that may net me a bit more at the track? Besides a gear change( tough in a c5, intake swap, heads swap or taking weight out? Not sure there is much easy weight to take out of the vette. Thanks!

Thinking about just putting a 100 shot to it and calling it a day.

1 7/8 headers and some weight reduction will help for sure. With that cam you could use a larger throttle body as well.if you haven't already having the car dyno tuned would help.

Thanks I had it street tuned so it should be good in that department I was thinking a larger or ported throttle body may help some.

Do you have headers on the car currently or stock manifolds ? Stock heads ?

1 3/4 headers. I do have stock 241 heads.. I was thinking about switching out for 243s.. but not sure if the gain is worth not just saving up and getting some aftermarket heads

That size cam could also benefit from 1 7/8 or larger header primary

larger intake for sure with that cam. the heads are also choking that cam, even stock 243's will choke it. there are some gains to be had by switching the headers for larger primaries. under drive pulley. when you change the intake or heads get another tune done

I don't think the intake is holding you back much but I could be wrong. Could always port your 78mm and port your throttle body.

How much faster do you want to go? Nitrous is likely to be your best bang/buck if you want to gain much.

If you keep an eye out you might be able to find an underdrive pulley too for around $120. Mine was worth right at a tenth in the 1/8th back in the day.

thank you I was wondering if a pully was worth anything really.. I honestly just want to get down to 7.0. I think the car has 7.2s in it as is.

Those 2 with a bump in compression would make for some nice gains.

in your case, a good set of heads will give you the most bang for the buck.

if he wants to stay N/A, some good heads would be good for 40-50rwhp

the budget needed for heads, gaskets, fluids, bolts, etc would be more than enough to put a decent nitrous kit on good for 75-200hp depending how brave he is lol

The best bang for your buck would be to spray. If you are wanting to stay NA you could do heads.

Not sure what auto gear you have but I simply swapped in a a 6spd differential, I think i paid $200 for mine and had it cleaned w/ new seals, etc. You could also unload the 78mm Fast and go bigger (have it ported), get a bigger TB and get a 85mm maf. You would be surprised on what you'll gain w/ a good tune. As for a pulley for what you gain its a pain in the *** unless your changing the cam, etc.

I agree . I think there are less expensive ways to pick up the little extra you need than to do heads

Also for the work involved I wouldn't swap the 241's for stock 243's. When the time comes if your trying to stay budget friendly send you 241's (or grab 243's) and send them off to AI, or tea. That have a hell of a cnc program.
