Default LS1 DS head grounds

Hey all,

I am trying to diagnose what appears to be an electrical/sensor issue. I read somewhere that putting all 3 grounds in one spot on the back of the driver head can lead to issues. I was lazy and did this. Does anyone know which two wires should ground together and what one is solo?

Thanks in advance

I think you just need to make sure the 3 big lumps of the motor are positively grounded to each other,, Both heads and the block. Bad grounds are the playground of the devil LOL

I doubt it matters which 2 wires go together. If that doesn't fix your grounding issue, consider adding a grounding strap from the motor to the firewall.

In that case I will keep looking. My issue is that I get 2 codes for knock sensors(low input) every day like clockwork. Car runs rough and SES comes on. I am not seeing any KR, so I am not sure if these codes are correct. New sensors and harness.

If the car is running rough you have another problem. You could possibly have a vacuum leak.

Did you put on new intake manifold gaskets when you put in the new knock sensors, and did you follow the correct torquing procedure

I have replaced the intake seals and correct torque/pattern was used. No change. This comes and goes as it pleases. Most of the day the car runs great, but then it just runs poor, like a misfire, and one or both knock sensor codes will set off the SES. I can clear the codes, let the car sit, and maybe it will run fine next time it starts. The problem will sometimes stop just as quick and the SES will turn off.

It really shouldn't matter where the grounds are located on the block, just that they're on the block. I would start looking at freeze frame data for when the SES light comes on. What are the O2's reading, MAF reading, etc. etc.

Make sure your injectors are fully seated in the manifold. Spray carb cleaner around them when running with engine cold
