Default Fast 90mm is a POS

I was trying to figure out tonight how I was going to hook up the new 90mm Fast intake and TB.

1st off how the hell is it going to get 90mm of air through a SLP lid??
The opening isn't 90mm.

Then the mass air flow is also much smaller than 90mm so how the hell is the CFM going to get to the Throttle body??

Then TNT tells me they don't have a ring that will fit the 90mm TB.

They said to machine it to go over the TB, that only leave .100 all the way around. That wont work.

So here I sit with a POS and Thunder Racing wants to give me credit only on the 78mm Fast and TB trade. I don't want credit I want my Phen money back.

So BTW will a stock TB fit on the 78mm fast manifold??

Yes, the stock TB will fit on a 78mm FAST. Do you have the 78mm or the 90mm intake? whay won't Thunder give you your money back?

I have the 90mm set up but I'm sending it back.

I am putting my 422 together and I thought the 90mm would be awesome but the MAF looks to be no bigger tha maybe 80mm plus the lid is 78 to 80mm at best. This 90mm isn't going to get anywhere close to 90mm air flow.

I think I'm going to get the 78mm and just put a ported stock TB on.

I'm going to call Thunder back tomorrow and push harder for a refund.

Everything is still in the boxes.

They should give you a credit, but may charge a restock fee. Usually they're pretty reasonable.

so, i dont understand how is the intake a piece of **** it sounds like you are having problems with t.b. s to me not intakes .......did you really think that a power ring would fit on a 90mm t.b. when it was designed to work on a t.b. almost 12 mm smaller??????? ..besides that ,, one of the benifits of the intake is , you can plumb it... so get a direct port throw that ring in the trash and plumb it up and enjoy.....i dont think the intake is a piece of **** it seems to be the best one out on the market ,,,as of the moment..

I like the intake and I'm getting the 78mm. I think it will perform.

The 90mm set up will never get the CFM with restrictions in the lid and MAF.
Why not put the 78mm on and do a good ported TB since that's all the air flow you'll get anyway?

Plus the direct port is really only good for big shots.
I'm looking at 150 - 200 max so the ring wil work better for me.
A strong 422 plus a 150 shot will be al my chasis can handle.

Run the 90mm setup open throttle body in speed density mode like some of the other 90mm owners are doing.

You could always get an 85 mm maf and Lid which would help some.

Yes...it seems to me if you have the $$ for a 422 and an LSX 90 mm intake and TB you could go ahead and spring for a better lid and MAF.

Its not the LSX intakes fault.

I think perhaps Pro-M Racing (one of our sponsors) has larger than 85mm MAFs. You could use a cone type filter. For the nitrous I'd run a direct port system.

We ran the 90mm FAST/90mm TPIS TB and used a 85mm MAF from GM with our own TSP 85mm lid. Sure there is prob -some- restriction but thats on our newest shop car that did 504rwhp in a A4 w/ 4.56 gears and went 10.20 N/A last weekend at the NvsS shootout first visit to the track.

On the TNT ring I have the same dilemma coming up soon, I was thinking of tapping the TB for the two nozzles, but havn't tried yet so I'm not sure if it'll work. If you have deep pockets...direct port would be awesome too!

Personally I think the LS6 intake is still the overall best (from the combination of price, quality, fitment and flow perspective) one on the market.
