Default Fuel Pump Fuse Keeps Blowing

Was on the highway last night, and the car suddenly shut off.. Coasted to the side and got her towed home. Car cranks, just wouldn't start. Found the fuel pump fuse to be blown.. replaced it and the car fired up and shut off immediately. The fuse blew again, and now blows anytime the key is turned to the on position. Looking for a possible short I suppose, but any other thoughts or ideas? I hate wiring lol

Besides a short somewhere else, check the pump itself. Might have shorted itself, even though it runs for a bit. Too many amps being drawn either way....

So I unplugged the fuel pump connections at the bulkhead behind the rear seats, and the fuse still pops. I don't think i disconnected the racetronix hotwire kit though.. so the fuel pump could still be the problem??

Maybe, because SOMETHING is shorting out.
Check amp draw on the pump.

do you have the new or old style hotwire kit ? the old style had problems

hmmm, this has happened to my ride also last week.. racetronix G7 sending unit and walbro 255 pump with their hot wire kit ( from alt. to pump ) but the 20 amp mini fuse at the alt . I had to strip a piece of wire and replace the fuse to make it back home. haven't had time to diagnose anything just yet.

Thanks for the reply guys!

So I did a continuity test with the ohm meter on the fuel pump relay. First I unplugged the fuel pump at the bulkhead behind the rear seats. Then probed the fuel pump power wire at the relay and it was grounding out. I unplugged the c207 connector under the dash and found that it wasn't grounding out anymore. So I probed the interior side of the c207 connector and it was grounding out.. I ran a new wire from the interior of the c207 to the fuel pump bulk head behind the rear seats, and it fired right up.

I replaced my weather pack connectors as the wires pulled out. ( I applied di-electric grease to them and the relay and found that problem), yea, I think I will start at the supply voltage and work my way back as now my pump has a weird sound on key on/ prime up. ( I drove it this morning to a local cars n coffee show and made it home with no problems !)
