Default FTR 98mm lid

Ok here's my situation. Last year my car was in the shop getting a few things done. During that time I scored a deal on a Fast 92 setup and 85mm MAF, so since they already were working on it I had them install it. When it was installed they hacked up my SLP lid a bit so it would fit. Basically the back side of the lid has a good quarter inch gap, and you can see a tiny bit of the filter. So the question is this-would it be worth getting a FTR 98mm lid? I know basically a lid is a lid, but considering that my SLP lid isn't sealed very well, and assuming a FTR 98mm would seal well, would it be worth a couple hp you think? Also, im running a SSRA and part of the premise behind that is that it needs to be sealed for maximum effectiveness. Obviously my SLP unit is no longer sealed well. Let me know what you think. Thanks

The FTP lid fits great and the 98mm lid is made for most 85mm mafs. Id rock it!
And I will be on my Formula sometime soon ;-)

Thanks for the response. I've also heard the 98mm lid can rub on the stock SS hood. My SLP lid rubs a tiny bit and that's okay. I just don't want the 98mm one to be much worse. Do you know if it sits higher than the SLP unit or is it roughly the same? Do you think it might add a couple horsepower since it should seal better?

It will "rub" Just like the slp does in a few spots if the slp does. Ive seen half and half on that. The transition goes farther back and down so some cars have to trim on the back side of the rad shroud the little lip that sticks out but thats it. It has a significant increase in overall volume all around though so hp gains yes.
We can sell it with or without the iat hole and with or without the AIR hole also iirc.

Perfect! I actually called earlier and left a message on the tech line and didn't hear back, but this answers my questions so no biggy. What is your return policy in the event that this thing doesn't fit?

We normally return calls at end of day and im battling the flu so i sound like Marge's sisters off The Simpsons.
If you don't modify it in any way then just send it back within a reasonable amount of time. No rubs or major scratching though.

A quick tip, walmart has some sticky felt pads that work perfect for the areas that do rub. Arts and crafts section i think or in housewares/laundry. Or ya know you can use a googly eye felt ladybug also. whichever fits your style.

Hey I tried placing the order today on your site, but it wouldn't go through. Is there a certain time frame for orders?

Installed the lid tonight and it definitely fits better than the SLP one. Plus it looks a little cleaner since I was able to ditch the adapter that I ran with the SLP lid. I was a little worried about clearance with the stock SS hood, but so far it seems the same. No problems with it rubbing when closing the hood, but I'll know for sure when I go and drive it since things move around more obviously. Will also be interesting to see if my AFR changes, but I'm guessing it won't. Overall I'm very pleased so far.

Props to tech@WS6store. He was helpful answering my questions and they make a good product here

Edit: I just got your message as I was typing this lol. Thanks again

Finally took the car for a ride today. On a day like this my AFR was like 12.3 with the old lid. Now it looks to be maybe 12.8. What's interesting is that before it would be close to 12.3 at say maybe 6000 rpm then stay within a point or so till red line. Now it appears to just be climbing and climbing with about 12.8 at 6600-6800 rpm. I'm kind of surprised. Has anyone else experienced this much of a jump from just a lid change?

We have always seen a gain, it all depends on the setup as to how much. And the tune of course.
Vs a stock setup it feels like ALL THE POWER. Its like the He-Man lid.

I'm blown away to be honest. Never expected a simple lid change to change AFR that much. This thing seals better than the old SLP one, so that alone could help. Also, this lid doesn't appear to rub whereas the SLP did just ever so slightly. Then again the SLP lid was sort of all jacked up with adapter that i was rinning, and to get it to lock in like it should it might have raised the lid a tiny bit causing the little bit of rubbing that it was doing. I am just speculating, so not sure. Overall I'm very pleased and surprised as well

Yep definitely! And I think the SSRA is able to do its job better since the lid seals better. All of the combined mentioned things probably explain the big change
