I want the cross member to be the first contact point in the event that the car has a clearance issue, rather than the exhaust as that could mean expensive damage. It's just that the double drop has less clearance than I like.

Not sure what the deal was with the SE Y pipe, I was just happy that it was too long rather than too short. Too long is easier to fix.

Also the short pipe is on the passengers side and the y pipe will somewhat line up with the stock location pipe to go over axle

Is the short pipe supposed to be on the passenger side, what I’m saying is does the two pieces of piping go on the passenger side to connect to y pipe for third Gen Camaro

My original style TSP catted y had that dip on the drivers side and doesn't tuck as high up as i'd like. Hopefully their new design solves that problem. It might have to do with production variances and may depend on what motor mounts you use.

I thought the motor mounts might have something to do with it. I have stock motor mounts and it sets the headers a little higher making the longtubes almost flush with frame rails. I can make it work with the two pieces being on the passenger side but the O2 sensor will be facing outwards.

The current TSP pipe doesn't dip down. It has way more ground clearance

Just curious the cost of your SE Y pipe because the pricing ive seen , in regards to kooks or TSP with an additional 100$ your still ahead of the game....... not tying to start an argument , just from looking at my picing of it there is a substantial difference between the 3. SE is very good to deal with imo i would have contacted them and had it returned as i know there are some bad fits and some amazing fits........ just my .02

I specifically ordered it for a 1986 Camaro and even on eBay they said it fit for the Y pipe

I just heard back from speed engineering and they said it was for 98-02 f body. I put the info into check to see if it fits and eBay said it does. I can make it fit a third gen. Just have to install it backwards and move the passenger side O2 sensor bung or leave it there and cut about nine inches off of the lower pipe with bend. That pipe to cut is the lower one that takes two pipes on one side which is supposed to be on driver side. That’s for the third Gen Camaro and three inch y pipe.
