Default Can you add a cut-out to a gmmg exhaust?

Hey Guys,

I have my Borla on the car with a cutout at the moment. I like that you can make it quieter or louder when need be. But still have my gmmg, and was thinking switching back to it.

Is it possible to add a cutout to a gmmg exhaust? To make it quieter if needed? Anybody do it?

Thanks!

Yes! you can put one on a GMMG, I know because I've done it! I love my GMMG exhausts!

That said, you can put a cutout on any y-pipe exhaust system for our cars. Mine was welded in the y-pipe just under the passengers seat, a perfect indentation in the floorpan.

But a cut-out will make it loader, not quieter. I used an electric cut-out so I could open and close it anytime I wanted.

Hmmm. Not sure if I want it louder, just an option to make it quieter.

Is that some how possible?

You can add a cutout to ANY exhaust. If you think the gmmg is quieter than your Borla then switch back and put the cutout in.

You could add a resonator in the I pipe, that'd quiet it down if that's what you want.

IMO the GMMG without a cut-out, is the perfect sounding exhaust for our 4th gen f-bodies with a stock engine.

Like said above, a cutout will do the opposite of what you want, Louder, not softer.

Adding a cut out to a GMMG isn't going to make it any quieter when closed and definitely louder when open.

I guess I meant is there a way to add a cutout to block off one of the chambers? And then have it open to go back to normal. Sorta how my Borla is set-up currently.

I think all that would do is reduce flow as the only possible place to put the cutout is after one of the mufflers. I just don't see enough room to add a cutout spacewise.
