Default Is a ls1 intake okay?

getting ported 243 heads in the next week. I have a mild cam (218/227 valve lift @ .600/.600) was wondering if I'd be okay with the ls1 intake still. Really don't wanna spend another 400 for a LS6 intake if it's only like 5-10hp. Any info will help!

Sure it's fine. Like you're saying the LS6 intake is only about 5-10 hp better. If it's not worth it to you then there is no problem with the LS1

Yeah probably just gonna keep the ls1 intake. I already have the EGR taken off and everything. Finally settling on a pair of ported 243 heads I found for a good price

Would love to see someone cut the bottom out of the ls1 intake and replace it with a flat piece and see what the gains are. I've seen a couple pics of people doing it but no data.

Good deal. With the upgraded heads and cam that intake will become more of a bottleneck though. When money permits I'd go straight for a Fast intake

I want to but geez are those expensive as hell! Not really in my budge right now after buying the heads. Might buy a stall and get it installed when I do the heads. Still up in the air on everything

Cheapest play locally to do the work so I didn't have to ship was 1200 and Texas speeds 2.5 package was $1008 after shipping. I found a pair of ported 243 heads from Thompson motorsports for $1050 so I just said why not spent 42 more dollars for the better heads that are already ported

Makes sense. I don't think those TMS 243's will make any more power than the PRC 5.3's, but this way they are already done so no worries

Yeah it's less of a hassle probably just gonna skip a intake and stall right now actually and get a good wheel/tire setup that can actually hold the power. Cars making around 376-380 on the dyno just trying to get to or above the 400 mark

Yep I hear ya. A nice sticky tire is a good move as long as the rear holds lol

It's a auto car so that's helping a little bit I also have a LPW diff cover with axles braces waiting to be put on in the spring time so that should also help

That's good you have the auto with that 10 bolt. In my case I have a M6 with a 4.10 gear, and with drag radials and 600 rwhp I think I'm on borrowed time lol

Geez 600 hp on the 10 bolt with a M6 that's kinda crazy lol! Still just trying to figure out what I wanna do with my car if I wanna get a LS6 intake with the heads or just a stall. Kinda leaning towards the intake side because a stall is more if you're at the track and I barley go to the track it's more stop light stuff lol. Just wanna have one bad *** T/A when I'm done it it. Pretty sure the heads and intake will be the last motor mods on the car honestly.

Actually having a stall will make a much bigger difference than the LS6 intake, and will make the car way more fun on the street and everywhere. Although you sell that LS1 intake then only spend maybe around $150 for a used LS6 intake. Just a thought

Yeah I rather do the intake with the heads then do the stall down the road more when I start taking it to the track more. Probabaly just gonna do the LS6 intake then see how the car is with the more power then base what's next from that

In the testing below the LS6 was worth 22 hp and 15 torque over an LS1 intake on an engine dyno.
