Default Egr block off warning

For anyone who plugged their ls1 intake with a rubber expansion plug make sure to change it out every so often. I have no idea how long this plug was in the intake but it was obviously much too long.

Here's a better one; don't use a rubber expansion plug.

Better to use a freeze plug than an expansion plug.

in the past this was a typical thing to put on the ls1 intake manifold to plug the egr port when eliminating the egr system from the car altogether. I did it myself a while back when I had my 98 firebird. I imagine doing this is another added routine maintenance on top of the other stuff.

that or upgrade the ls1 intake to ls6 or a fast intake for example.

I looked up via google and a couple links pointed that the rubber freeze and rubber expansion plug are the same?

"Freeze" and "expansion" are words used interchangeably with plugs used to control freeze-caused expansion in cooling systems

I meant a metal freeze plug. 1 3/8" I believe.

I swapped on an aluminum block off plate from ebay. You should have seen me trying to get the stupid plug out without cracking the intake or dropping bits inside. Then after pulling it out I used a small nozzle on a hand vac and sucked out some little rubber bits from through the tb while I held the throttle blade open. It must have been an interesting sight to anyone who didn't know what I was doing lol.

Now I just have to put together a basic catch can setup to reduce all the oil I saw in the intake. It's always fun finishing someone else's project lol
