Default any idea why theres metal in the intake

i bought a fast off of here, and i looked inside and it had a ton of oil in it. no big deal. so i popped off the top shell, and there is not a ton, but a quite a few pieces of metal as small as a grain of salt, up to the size of a piece of sea salt. i cleaned it all up, but the seller said nothing about it besides he would recommend cleaning it. not concerned about running the intake, looked over it real good and no visual issues. any ideas?

It was probably on an engine that had a stock piston fail. The debris can get sucked up into the intake when the throttle closes and the manifold sees vacuum.

Nah, just clean it out real good, seal it up, and send it.

as KCS stated, definately something let go on the engine it came off of. I highly doubt the intake has been compromised though.
