Default Magnaflow 16723 replacement muffler?

If there a replacement muffler for the Magnaflow 16723 system? I would like to quiet down the system a little. People say the Hooker muffler is quieter.

Hooker Aerochamber 21729HKR has the same muffler inlet / outlet dimensions, but the muffler body has different dimensions, so I don't know if it will fit or not.

When I was younger, loud was awesome. Now I wouldn't mind a stock sound haha. Any ideas?

Does that muffler go up in the y-pipe area or in the back like the stock muffler?

Amazon Amazon

Is a link to my current catback. It is in the back like the stock muffler. I added a bullet muffler in the I pipe. It is by no means loud, but if I can make the exhaust a little quieter for $100, I would give it a shot.

By the way, this is a LT, catted Y, supercharged car. I have tinnitus from my job. I am paranoid about making it worse.

What bullet muffler do you have in the I pipe? Also, I see no reason why an exhaust shop couldn't cut out that 16723 muffler and weld in something else. Try something like a Flomaster 80. That will do it for sure

Isn't the Flomaster 80 the Flowmaster known for lack of flow?

It might cost you like 2-3 hp, but if you want quieter, and want it on a budget, you're gonna have to sacrifice something

I am not necessarily on a budget. I was just looking on the forums and it looked like the Hooker was a bit quieter than my current Magnaflow. The muffler was $100. I was wondering if anyone has replaced the Magnaflow muffler for the Hooker muffler, or something similar.

The Hooker is definitely quieter at idle / low throttle. If it's the same one that comes with the Hooker catback, it's longer than the Magnaflow by a few inches. I've got a low miles Hooker aerochamber from my previous catback that I'd sell cheap, PM if interested.
