Your posts are always about common sense (NOT really all that common now, it seems...), and I always enjoy reading them, because I always seem to learn something, Your 20 years as a tech might have a wee bit to do with that, huh? Take it easy man!

Appreciate it man, I like to help and give back. I needed a lot of help once and remember what it felt like. I've always been extremely curious and had a knack for finding the smartest/most experienced guy in the room and picking their brain like crazy. I do a hell of a lot more listening that I do talking.

I do a lot of theory testing too instead of assuming/repeating what people say that was repeated from someone..

Have a good one, time to go home!

Depends on the brand. I've read more horror stories about Energy Suspension's trans mount...

On my 01 I did Spohn solid motor mounts (The mount and pedestal are all one unit) and a Prothane trans mount. I sincerely LOVED that setup. Even with a "rumpity-rump" cam I didn't really notice anything more than just having a better "feel" for the car. BUT... much like exhaust note, NVH is subjective. Some cant stand it, some love it, some don't notice a difference.

That's a great setup for feel and for driving. I could stand it if it were a toy, but if it were my daily I would probably hate it. Rattles and squeaks drive me nuts in my "nice" car. In my toy I don't care.

Thanks for help so far guys! I was finally able to get started last week on the mounts and the headers. I’ve got the drivers side done and what a pain in the *** but really not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I’m lucky I can just take my time with it. I couldn’t imagine having to have this done ASAP! I took the mount and the pedestal out in one piece. Easy coming out. Going back in oh my god! Finally got engine up high enough to get it back in and then there was the twist of the mount I had to get it lined back up. Definitely took patience on that one. The steering knuckle was a pain to get off and back on but headers slid right in with that off. I’m on the passenger side now with the plugs out and the manifold off and trying to get the mount out. Some where I read the passenger side was easier but I can barely get my hands in there and I’m not a very big guy. So far I haven’t had to jack it up higher then 18” and I think the passenger side might need more because the tubes look longer.

Right now I have new prothane motor mounts with a poly trans mount. It's actually much better than I thought i would be, but am considering going back to a stock trans mount for comparison's sake. Prothane motors mounts were a big thumbs up though.

This is the set up I’ll be at. Prothane motor mounts and poly trans. Going to back to the rubber trans mount.

Man I can’t get the pedestal to line up! I got the poly in and on the engine with the bolt through the pedestal and one bolt started. I need a third hand to get another started while using a punch and long pry bar to move it in place. Any ideas on how to get the pedestal twisted around to line up?

I haven't done the motor mounts YET there coming. A little off topic, wait until you replace the trans master cylinder, FUUUUUUUK going around the brake booster with the line sucked

I had to shove a small prybar through the hole near the bottom of my passenger pedestal and twist to get the bolts in. Took some major maneuvering but, they went in. Sucks because a week later I took the mounts out and put new rubbers back in because I believed they were keeping my Y pipe from going on the headers. Nope!

I feel your pain... But it's not as bad as Spohn solids. Gotta line up 8 holes at the same time since the pedestal and mounts are all one unit

With the engine balanced on a floor jack, I used a 3' piece of 2x4 as a "pry bar" to get it lined up. If this is your first time ever doing it, it seems almost impossible. After this it'll be a cake-walk.

Loosen the pedestal bolts on the engine side as well. It'll need a little slack all the way around so you can slowly get all the bolts started.

this is how I’ve got the driver side. That was pretty easy. Not so easy on the passenger side. Finally got the second bolt in today. I only had an hour on it today!

I’m glad I didn’t go with the spohn mounts like I was going to! I bet that was a real bitch! I’ve got the tranny mount loose and the cross member with the motor on the jack and all bolts loose to the mount on the motor. I just need an extra set of hands to get it twisted and started in there.

thanks for all the help guys! I’ll try again Friday when I have more time for it.

I finally got the passenger side motor mount in and tightened up today. Then I was able to slide the passenger side header right on up in there in pretty easy. Hoping to get it buttoned up tomorrow!

So I’m putting the y pipe in and I can’t get any clearance from the driveshaft. How much clearance is needed for that and the rest of the exhaust? Tsp y and tsp 3” cat back with the cut out.

I didn't use any. A lot of us repin the PCM so we can use the rear pigtails to read as the fronts.
